Feature Request: Security Profiles / Auto-Lock on Power Disconnect
Hi, I apologize beforehand if this isn't the proper channel to suggest feature requests. But I have two: Addition of security profiles (auto-lock) and an additional preference option to lock 1password on power disconnect.
Problem:
While at home I don't feel that I need 1Password to lock every time the computer goes to sleep (set at 15 minutes). I find it a little cumbersome to have to unlock 1Password multiple times a day when not in a public space. However, when I'm in public space, I'd like stricter settings such as fast user switching, idle after 5 minutes, lock on sleep. Because I don't want to have to change my preferences every time I go into a public space, I keep my settings on "strict" all the time even at home.
There's two possible solutions that I see here:
1. Auto-lock profiles. Triggers that change my auto-lock settings. The easiest one that I can think of is an option to select profiles in drop down menu bar. Although, I'd really like to see something that's auto-triggered like if connected to your home Wifi network use "Home" profile with looser auto-lock settings. Everywhere else, use "Public" profile with stricter settings.
2. Add an additional auto-lock preference: "Unplugged from power". Less ideal than the first one, but will give users one more way to customize their security settings.
Adding these options will provide users a way to further customize this great piece of software specific to their use cases.

Greetings @cnolson100,
We will consider what you're asking for but I know from past experience one real concern we have is we want to keep preferences as simple as possible where we can. Part of the reason for doing so is to limit the possibility of accidental configurations that may place users at risk. As a very frequent user of 1Password  I do understand where you're coming from but I do also understand the flip side too, especially with a widening user base. So it is something we will consider and also monitor for demand.
For now though I don't know what a great solution might be. If it were me I would probably adopt a different approach where I had my settings for the more relaxed situation as my Mac is at home more than it is out. I already have it set to lock on sleep as part of my relaxed settings so I know closing the lid on the MacBook locks 1Password. On top of that, if I felt it was needed I would add manually locking of 1Password using the keyboard shortcut
⌃⌥⌘L
but I do admit that is a manual approach. It would allow you to always know when 1Password is locked and when it isn't though whilst still having the more relaxed settings when at home. This thread will remain open so it will be interesting to see if others also want to see a more more configurable locking mechanism.

It's worth looking into the ControlPlane utility.
I'm not sure if it van set 1PW preferences depending on location, etc, but it can certainly adjust some settings.
For instance, my user password on wake from sleep is required if my Macbook is on battery power but not if it on mains and connected to my external monitor.
