Just paid $80 AUD FOR 1password Mac. Why do I need to pay more for pro features???

With a purchase of 1password Mac, I believed that all my devises would have full access to ALL 1password features. The app cost $80.00 -a sizeable upfront cost. I am DISMAYED that in order to assess Pro Features I am being asked to pay a further $14.99. Why? This appears to be price gouging.

    @claire_g 1P for Mac and 1P for iOS are completely separate products. 1Password is licensed per person and per platform, rather than per device. You can read more about all the available options in this knowledge base article:

    What do I need to purchase to use 1Password on all my devices?

    (By the way, I don't work for AgileBits but am merely a volunteer helping here, so please don't shoot the messenger. :) )

    Thankyou for the feedback Stephen

    I should add that I purchased 1password through the Apple App Store and no where in the advertisement can I find information that indicates this purchase was for Desktop only and that there was a distinction between this and any version specifically for IOS devices. In fact it clearly says that you can sinc between devices (which you can) - naturally having paid such a large $ for this app my expectation was that this was a one stop shop with no more add ons. I'm disappointed. Finally I read that there are Licences for 1password. Where do I find one?

    And many of us don't need the extra features of 1PW Pro. Note that the Mac version does not have or need additional Pro features, it is only 1PW for iOS that has this.

    @claire_g -

    Finally I read that there are Licences for 1password. Where do I find one?

    There is a license file required to register copies that come directly from the Agileabits web store. But Apple handles licensing differently. It's tied to the Apple ID used to buy it, and there is no separate license. You don't need to find one.

    To reinforce what @danco has said, remember that the iOS version is free to download and use I it's basic form. You may not need the more advanced Pro features.

    Hi @claire_g,

    I hope the answers from the others here have been helpful for you, and I'm very sorry for any confusion about all that!

    I purchased 1password through the Apple App Store and no where in the advertisement can I find information that indicates this purchase was for Desktop only and that there was a distinction between this and any version specifically for IOS devices.

    I think a lot of the confusion here might be due to a misunderstanding of how Apple's App Stores work. On your Mac, the App Store application (which most people refer to as the Mac App Store) sells only Mac apps. Similarly, the App Store on an iOS device (as well as the App Store within iTunes) sells only iOS apps. Apple doesn't currently provide a way to bundle Mac and iOS apps together from the same store. This applies to all apps you find on those stores, not just 1Password.

    As the others here have mentioned, 1Password for iOS is a free download, and offers free basic features. The Pro Features are optional - you can use just the free features if you want (and that includes the ability to sync). If you decide you would like to unlock the Pro Features in 1Password for iOS, you can do so with an in-app purchase. A single purchase of the Pro Features allows you to unlock them in 1Password on all your iOS devices associated with your Apple ID.

    Again, I'm very sorry this was an unpleasant surprise for you, but I hope we've been able to help clear that up. If you ever need help or have more questions about 1Password, please don't hesitate to ask us! We're here for you. :)
