Permissions problem w attachments in 6.2

Upgraded to 6.2 in App Store. Have restarted MacBook Air. Since upgrade I cannot open any attachments stored in 1Password items. Same kind of popup window for .pdf .eml .ods .txt telling me that 1Password does not have permission to open file. And when clicking a .webloc attachment 1Password crashes instead of opening link in web browser. I guess this is related to the same problem, which by the way does not seem so hard to rectify.

Is there something I can do to change permissions? Just some problem with my installation or something w 6.2?

I have also sent a crash report via the built-in crash reporter.

  • Hi @texplex,

Late yesterday we discovered a regression (bug: OPM-3980) in attachments handling in the App Store version of 1Password. I'd like to confirm that what you're seeing matches what we're seeing.

The bug, as I see it is that:

    • If I drag an attachment from 1Password to Finder, I get no resulting attachment in the Finder window, and I see this logged: 2016-04-05 09:14:12.812 1Password[28535:1229246] 630002 [UI:(Main Thread):<OPDetailAttachmentsTableCellView: 0x1110be9c0>] E namesOfPromisedFilesDroppedAtDestination: | Unable to move attachment <file:///var/folders/sw/bykzdlq92_nfwpxflx4m_8jm0000gp/T/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/com.agilebits.Attachments.noindex/06D4737896294BF2A84BAE0E3D603AB1/8453AEA9559B4967B0F8C655AAEA4579/1Password%20AppMenuMagic%20Crash.txt> to drop destination <file:///Users/rfillion/Downloads/1PasswordDiagnostics-Evas-MBP-2016-04-04_12-34/1Password%20AppMenuMagic%20Crash.txt>: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=513 "“1Password AppMenuMagic Crash.txt” couldn’t be moved because you don’t have permission to access “1PasswordDiagnostics-Evas-MBP-2016-04-04_12-34”." However, if I single click on the attachment to highlight it (it's not obvious, basically just the icon goes a little dim) then hit the space bar, I'm still able to QuickLook the attachment. If I double click the attachment, the attachment decrypts and opens in the associated app (in this case TextEdit).

Is that what you're seeing as well? If not, could you elaborate on how exactly you're trying to open the attachment?

Rudy is looking into OPM-3980 right now.

As for your crash when opening a webloc attachment. I wasn't able to reproduce this crash on my 10.11 system, but we were able reproduce it on 10.10. I've created bug OPM-3981 for this and we're going to look into what's going on there.

    Hi thanks,

    1) I tried to drag attachment earlier to Finder to see if I could still access some quite important data ... but nothing was copied to Finder. Same message as you.

    2) If i highlight and use space-bar I do not see the attachment in Quicklook. Instead I get a popup.
Example: An .ods spreadsheet results in a window with the spreadsheet icon but with a lock in the corner and a button w text "Open with LibreOffice". Clicking there results in nothing (except that the popup window shuts).

    3) If I double-click attachment I get Popup window stating that The application “1Password” does not have permission to open “nnnn.ods.”

    4) I dragged a new attachment into 1Password as a test. It works to bring it. But all those things above immediately apply to it also, so it is basically locked.

By the way, since the "rootpipe" discovery I have been using a pure user account for my daily work, w/o admin privileges, and a separate admin account. I must give admin password to install new software e.g.
I have never experienced any problems because of this and have used 1Password w/o problem all the time, but I came to think about it since it has to do with permissions.

  • Hi @texplex,

Try opening the attachments from 1Password mini instead. I suspect you'll have more luck. We've identified the issue and are working on a fix. I'm sorry that this bit you.

Hi, thanks. I acually have no problems accessing the attachments since I realized I could open them on my iPad where I have iOS version of 1Password. Great that you will have a fix though.

  • I'm glad rick was able to help you out!. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

    Cheers,
    Kevin
