Why would I or should I use the Agilebits download on my MAC?
I don't understand why I would use the Agilebits download for my MAC, when I must use the Apple APP Store for my IOS and Android devices. Seems confusing. What is the rationale for using one vs the other? (I'm currently having trouble sorting things out as I am attempting to migrate to the OPvault - my stuff is not syncing, and I have discovered that I have MAC software from both sources on my systems).
I am willing to convert to the Family plan, but still would have the question about Agilebits vs App Store.
Does the Family Plan use your own private cloud as a syncing tool (e.g. not Dropbox)? And it works internationally?
Thanks

Hi @JohnBinKC ,
Functionally, there is no difference between the Mac App Store and AgileBits Store versions of 1Password. The difference is licensing and methods of installation, and that matters more to those who are not purchasing Families.
With the Mac App Store you get to install it on any Mac that you have an AppleID signed in on, and if you have iTunes Family Sharing set up, any Mac that your Family has an AppleID signed in on. It costs $64.99 US.
With the AgileBits Store, it costs the same, and is licensed to you alone, but also includes a license for the Windows version.
But if you sign up for the Family Plan, you get clients for free on every platform we support (Mac, Windows, iOS, Android) - and for the Mac version, it must be downloaded from the AgileBits Store. You could use the Mac App Store version, but the App Store will charge you $64.99US, so we recommend the AgileBits Store version.
Also, with Families, AgileBits will handle the syncing, eliminating the need to sync to Dropbox or iCloud. You'll find the sync works much better here as well, since we're able to control and optimize the servers to sync with 1Password rather than general purpose storage like Dropbox and iCloud. We'll certainly support Dropbox and iCloud if you don't use Families, but we're confident you'll find the experience much better with Families.
On top of that, Families includes up to 5 family members, so you can include them with the one plan as well.
And to answer your last question, yes, Families works internationally.
Thank you for taking the time to write in with your questions. If I've missed anything or you have further questions, feel free to reply.
Cheers,

Hi @JohnBinKC ,
To be clear, you can use Families with the Mac App Store version; it works fine. If you don't already have 1Password on your Mac, we recommend the AG version because you can download that one for free (you would be charged if you buy the Mac App Store version), add your Families account and use all of the functionality.
But if you already have the Mac App Store version, you can use it with Families just fine.
Cheers,
Kevin0
