Since 1Password 3 there's been hundreds of changes to the app! We are on version 6 by now. You can get a taste of the things that have changed in the announcement for the major upgrades here:

@arifjusoh: But of course if you already have a 1Password 6 Mac license and don't need 1Password for Windows, there's no need to upgrade. Cheers! :)

I’m glad to see you found help here! If you’re interested in 1Password Families, at this time, that is a separate service as opposed to an upgrade.
