Plus sign at top of page has disappeared, I can't add a new item

I was about to add an item today. I normally do so by just clicking the + sign at the top of 1P. I've included a .gif file showing that there is no + sign any longer when I open 1P. I had problems about a week ago with 1P giving me an error message about not being able to find 1P Mini. Someone on here helped me and, I didn't have the latest version of 1P, I downloaded and installed it and that fixed the problem. But now, I have this problem. How do I get the plus sign back, or has it been moved to another location and I'm just not seeing it??
Thanks!

@bpepau do you have more luck looking at the bottom left of the edit pane? ;)

@bpepau: Indeed, there shouldn't be a + sign in the area of your screenshot, but you can create a new item by clicking the + at the bottom, using File > New Item, or pressing ⌘ N on the keyboard. I hope this helps! :)
