Hey there @marianM,
Sorry that you are experiencing this issue.
In all likelihood the issue is that you either have multiple copies of 1Password or you have encountered a bug with our updater. Sorry about that!
Please try the following:
- Search your computer for "1Password" from the Mac OS Finder, and make sure there is only one copy of the 1Password application.
- If you have old copies such as 1Password 5 or a previous version of 1Password 6, move them to the trash
- Restart the computer (even if you didn't have multiple copies of 1Password)
Hopefully the issue should resolve itself from there.

Hey nathanvf,
1. Yes I tried your steps to the letter. '1Password 4.app and 1Password 6.app' removed most files but could not find some in /. I Deleted all other copies of 1Password all versions found ( pieces of versions 4 and 6 too). Moved them to trash. Deleted Trash. Then rebooted. Then I downloaded a new copy of 1Password 6.app. Reinstalled. Same issue: (".. can not unlock 1Password "..fails to connect to 1password mini.." ) .
2. Deleted everything again in 4 hours.
3. Then I went to 'Carbon Copy backup' to find an older version. Executed 1Password 4. No luck. Mac finder displayed even more copies of Password - because I did not eject the backup external HD before I tried to install 1Password6 and extensions again. I knew better, but I was tired at 4 am. I removed 1Password 4 files.
4. I requested a shell to delete every Password file. Now what?
5. I did find (via terminal commands) opvault.icns (size 1,536,597 and agilekeychain.icns in 1Password 6.app/Contents/Resources/. But I found no process to use them.
6. I have been reading the blogs and trying everything.0 -
i too am getting the error message 1 password failed to connect to 1password mini. my Mac did not crash, and this started about 2 weeks ago. i just deleted and older version and verified that i only have ver 6, then rebooted, but no go. my IOS versions are working fine.
