Keyboard shortcuts don't work with Fast User Switching [resolved in v4]

  • Hi Kir,

Safari does not provide browser extensions with support for keyboard shortcuts. To get around this issue, 1Password is using the 1PasswordAgent (1Password Helper) process to register for Cmd-\ combination and notify the extension when it is pressed when Safari is active.

It seems that we have a bug in 1PasswordAgent (1Password Helper) that prevents it from registering for the key combination when the Fast User Switching is happening.

Another possibility is that the link between 1PasswordAgent (1Password Helper) is broken. In this case there will be a red badge shown on 1Password toolbar button in Safari.

Are you using 1Password 3.8 (from our website) or 1Password 3.9 (from Mac App Store)?

  • I am also experiencing this issue and hope that it will be fixed soon. It is quite annoying to only have CMD-\ work sometimes. It is kinda disappointing to see that this issue was reported back in 2011 and still not be fixed.

1Password doesn't seem to play well with fast user switching. There are other issues (already reported) that I experience when using fast user switching that I also hope to see fixed soon. Hopefully this will be fixed in version 4???

    Hi Roustem

I am using 3.8, not from the Mac App Store.

    Hi roustem/khad

Any updates on a fix for this? Roustem, it sounds like 1PasswordAgent might be causing the trouble. If it has been written in such a way that only one user can use it at a time then it's broken. OS X has always been a multi user OS in which each user can run processes independent of what other users may or may not be doing. This bug really needs to be moved up higher on the priority list. It has gone untreated for long enough.

I just wanted to update this thread and let everyone know that this is completely resolved in 1Password 4. We'd love for you to test 1Password 4 for Mac and let us know what you think in the 1Password 4 for Mac beta forum.

Or you can wait for 1Password 4 to be released if you prefer. It won't be long now. :)
