I just installed the app and noticed that I had this same problem. change position and size of the window and close it open it and it is back to default position and size.

I solved my problem by opening the app setting window size and position I then quit the app.

I then deleted all preference files in my preference folder I then opened up Activity monitor searched for 1password and noticed 3 processes running.
    1Password 7 (8064)
    1Password Extension Helper (8051)
    Google Chrome (419)

I tried to quit all processes but was only able to quit 1Password 7 (8064) which is the main app.

I then opened the app and bang it saved the size and window position I set I have opened and closed it several times and still working. I also now notice I no longer have any preferences files for 1password?

I then checked the activity monitor again after quitting the 1password app several times then checking to see if it is still running in activity monitor and it is every time I quit it the only way I can quit the app is using force quit in activity monitor, **so when you quit the app it is not actually quitting even though it appears to be.
    **
I believe this may be a part of why this problem is happening.

@rodney_inns: Did you use Control-Option-Command-Q to quit 1Password completely? That's the only way to quit it completely as it needs to be running for 1Password Mini to work.

@pervel: No I didn't as I mentioned above I used activity monitor to quit the app. but it is good to know that keyboard shortcut to quit the app completely.

The application does not save size after exiting.
It happens all the time, very annoying!

I'm having the same problem. Problem seemed to go away after updating to 7.0.7, but returned very shortly thereafter.

    Still happening. On two Macs.

Has AgileBits been able to reproduce the problem?

Will see on next OS session if it continues...

@raca: Are you still experiencing this issue?

@rodney_inns: I think you may just be looking in the wrong place. 1Password 7 has a new location for its support files:

    ~/Library/Containers/com.agilebits.onepassword7/

So the preferences will be saved in the Data/Library/Preferences/ subfolder there.

I then checked the activity monitor again after quitting the 1password app several times then checking to see if it is still running in activity monitor and it is every time I quit it the only way I can quit the app is using force quit in activity monitor, **so when you quit the app it is not actually quitting even though it appears to be. That's not a problem. 1Password continues running in the background when you close the main window, otherwise browser integration wouldn't work. As pervel mentioned, if you want to Quit 1Password Completely, you don't need to Force Quit. You can do so with Command Option Control Q — or by holding Control and Option when quitting from the 1Password menu.

@billj: We have not ben able to reproduce this since it was addressed in beta.

For anyone who is still encountering this issue, please try the following:

    1. Quit 1Password Completely (Command Option Control Q)
    2. Navigate to ~/Library/Containers/com.agilebits.onepassword7/Data/Library/Preferences/
    3. Drag com.agilebits.onepassword7.plist to the Trash
    4. Download the 1Password Troubleshooting Tool: https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/
    5. Run it and use the Permissions tab to Repair Permissions
    6. Restart your Mac

If you still encounter issues with window size/position not being retained after that, let me know.

    @brenty :
After rebooting after my previous post I was able to resize the window and keep it like that.
And then the window reset happened again just once 2 ou 3 days after.

@Raca - so...I'm unclear on where things stand now? Are you still experiencing the problem? Or are things behaving as they should?

    After updating to 7.0.7:

    • At first, things were behaving as they should for a short while
    • Then on a 1Password launch I noticed a reset of the window size
    • I immediately posted the report (see the 1st of my 2 posts at bottom on previous page)
    • I then noticed that the window size was reset at every launch and posted my last post on previous page
    • Then I stopped using 1Passord and forgot about it
    • At next launch the day after I resized the window and it behaves as it should
    • Then on following launches all was ok
    • Then 2 or 3 days after the previous problem I noticed a window reset again, didn't touch the window size, did what I had to do in 1Password, quit and forgot about it
    • And since that it seems to be ok (it's 2 or 3 days now)

    Is this more clear?

@Raca - thanks for the clarification. Given that this appears to be a) intermittent and b) mostly behind you now, what I'd propose is that you monitor the situation and see if the problem recurs. If it does, make as careful notes as you can on what the conditions were when it occurred (new restart? Been running for days? Only happened after another app was launched/active? etc). Send that along to us, and include a diagnostics report from your Mac:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

    With your email please include:

    • A link to this thread: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/comment/448475#Comment_448475
    • Your forum username: Raca

That way we can "connect the dots" when we see your diagnostics in our inbox.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number.  Please post that number here so we can track down the diagnostics and ensure that this issue is dealt with quickly. :)

Once we see the diagnostics we'll be able to better assist you. Thanks very much! Hoping you won't need to do this, but if you do, capturing the diagnostics as quickly after the recurrence of the issue as possible will be the most helpful. Good luck! :)

    Hi Lars.
I'll do this. But I did it already twice, it didn't help?

@Raca -- you sent in two diagnostics reports already? I couldn't find anything under this email address (the one you registered for this forum using). To be clear: I don't want to you to go to the trouble of sending one in if there's nothing new to say/see/report. But if the problem recurs, the best chance we'll have of finding out what the problem might be will be if we can get a diagnostics report as quickly after the issue occurs as possible. :)

See my second post starting from the bottom of page 1. I gave the Support ID [#KTI-62146-538].
I may have used another email address to send the report (sorry for that).

@Raca Thanks. You did indeed use a different email address; that's why it wasn't picked up. I hate to cause you more effort, but that diagnostics report is a week old at this point. Can you follow my above post and wait until it presents itself, then send us another diagnostics report? Thanks, and sorry for the additional effort.

Happening here with v7.0.7 (non-MAS) on my MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

I can replicate the issue on both systems:

    1. In either Safari or Chrome, Option-Command-\ to bring up 1Password mini window.
    2. Type in any search string, e.g., "test".
    3. Press Escape twice to close out of the 1Password mini window.
    4. Lauch full version of 1Password.
    5. Window is reverted centered on screen not remembering custom placement and sizing.
    6. Control-Option-Command-Q to fully quit 1Password.
    7. Relaunch 1Password and window will go back to remembering customized placement and sizing.

same here: 1P main window sometimes resizes & repositiones, no pattern discernible. Please fix. Thank you.

    Tired of resizing

@1P4Me - can I ask: what specific version of 1Password 7 for Mac are you currently running?

  • 1P4Me

    7.0.7, stand-alone version

@brenty I followed your July 11th “trash settings & repair” procedure. Afterwards,1Password 7.0.7 licensed version held its window size & position for considerably longer than it had before. But i just launched 1Password, and size & position of login window are back to default. Dang.

@1P4Me - thanks. Can I get you also to please try brenty's instructions in his post up above in this thread? Or have you already done that?

I've tried that - unfortunately with the same result that brenty got.

@1P4Me - I'm sorry to hear this is still an issue for you. Especially since we can't reproduce (and therefore can't troubleshoot) it here. To help us help you, I'd like to get a sample from 1Password on your computer. The next time the issue occurs, please do the following while (or immediately after) it exhibits this behavior:

    1. Open the Activity Monitor and search for "1Password 7"
    2. Select it and choose "Sample Process" from the Gear icon in the toolbar.
    3. When it is finished, save the sample to a file.
    4. Include that file to a reply back to us. Don't post it here; please send it to support+forum@agilebits.com and include a link to this thread so we can "connect the dots." I'd also like to ask you to include a diagnostics report from your Mac:

@Lars - I've sent you an email with a sample analysis and some logs as requested. The support ID is [#RZL-31252-677].
It happened today, around 2:51 PM. Just so you know what time stamp to look out for.
Thanks for not letting this go.
