Does 1 password have 1 time payment thingy or do I have to subscribe?

So it isn't free. But cheap enough. Fine. Can I just pay for life time subscription? I've heard you have that model.

Yes, you can. But there is an issue with the word "lifetime", as it is something that people interpret differently.

If you buy a licence, it never expires. So it is lifetime in that sense. You can keep on using it for the version of 1PW you bought it for (and minor updates) as long as it will work on your operating system.

But if you wanted to go to a major upgrade (either because you liked it or because it was the only version that worked on an upgraded operating system) you would have to make a further payment. So in that sense it is not lifetime, you can't use the licence on all versions indefinitely.

If you want a licence, download 1PW from AgileBits (NOT from the Mac App Store) and in the first Welcome screen, beneath a big button saying Subscribe Now you will find in small print the line "Need a licence. We have those too". Click on that to go to a purchase page. Be aware that all pricing (sub or licence) is given before any applicable taxes.

I recommend that you do take a look at a subscription. It is not for everyone, but many people do prefer it to the licence (among other reasons, because licences are per plaform, while a sub covers all operating systems). Take a look at https://support.1password.com/why-account/

@aegos: Indeed, if you prefer, you can purchase each version separately. You can find pricing in the announcements detailing what's new:

1Password 7 for Mac: The Best Ever

1Password 7 for Windows: The Best Ever

    Cheers! :)

I see. And those have the same feature with subscriber based right? It gets updated all the time. Unlimited device. Personal only is enough.

Oh only for windows. So android not included. I guess I'll just subscribe.

Can personal version share passwords? I am on trial for "team" but I think I will revert back to personal version

@aegos: No. The app is the same, but features that depend on the hosted service require a 1Password.com membership: automatic offsite backup and item history, web interface, Travel Mode, zero-config sync, etc.

It gets updated all the time.

Since the app is the same whether you're using a license or a subscription, updates happen at the same time for both uses. You just won't get updates past the version you paid for without paying for a new license.

Unlimited device. Personal only is enough.

There is no device limit. If you purchase 1Password for Windows version 7, you can use that on all of your PC.

Correct. Each version is a separate purchase, or you can get all of them — including updates — as part of a membership.

Can personal version share passwords? I am on trial for "team" but I think I will revert back to personal version

No. With an individual account, there is no one else to share with. 1Password Teams, however, would allow you to share with others in your team, and also invite guests with access to a single vault you share with them.

I hope this helps. Be sure to let me know if you have any other questions! :)
