Adding extension to new browser, leads to login loop... (Zen/Firefox Browser)

Hello!

I'm getting frustrated trying to add the 1Password plugin to my new browser.

Steps to recreate

  •  Add the plugin to browser (Firefox / Zen Browser)
  •  Pin it to my browser
  •  Press the blue "Sign in" button'

  • Get to the sign in page
  • Change over to the EU version of the sign in page
  • Scan the QR code, with my phone (at the 1password.eu signin)
  • Transfer the encryption code to Firefox, and since I have already done this many times, get to the "Choose your vault page"
  • Press the employee one
  • And reach the vault
  • ERROR: The plugin is still locked. Pressing it will return me to the start. The sign in page. And the loop starts over.

Expected:

Once signed into my vault, the plugin should be refreshed to a logged in state instead of starting the sign in process all over again. But it is not.

Notes - Possible bug areas

As you could imagine, this loop is frustrating. My 1password vault page seems to have recognized the login, but not the extension.

One thought I have is that this is a "Cookie" problem. Where as I generally decline the acceptance of cookies. But so far I haven't been asked again to accept cookies for 1passwords sites so I haven't been able to confirm or deny this.

Things I've tried:

  • Restarting the browser
  • Logged out of my 1password vault and logged in again in a seperate process than pressing on the plugin.

What have worked:

The only time the loop stops and this works is when there is a "pop-up" window, telling me that I can activate "one click sign-in" which would make it easier. When activating this, the plugin get properly logged in and the loop breaks. But that pop-up is unreliable and isn't always showing when logging in!

Any help is appriciated, but mostly, I just want 1password or Firefox to see this and fix it.

Thanks!
//Simon

  • Hello Siniom! 👋

I'm sorry that you're having trouble adding your 1Password account to 1Password in Zen Browser. While Zen isn't a supported browser, I'll help as far as possible to get things working for you.

After signing into 1Password.eu you should see a pop-up prompt like the following:

Clicking Add account will add the account to the browser extension. It sounds like something is going wrong on your end since you're not seeing the prompt appear. Is it possible that you clicked "Don't ask again" at some point? If you did then try clearing your browser's cookies/history/cache to reset that preference and then sign into your 1Password.eu account again.

If you still don't see the prompt then can you install Firefox (which is a supported browser and what Zen browser is based on) and see if you can reproduce the issue there?
