Auto-login Problem on MyChart

Hello,

When I auto-fill Providence MyChart, https://mychartwa.providence.org/mychart/Authentication/Login?,  auto-login occurs. I expect to log in to the site, instead, the login page reloads. When I manually copy and paste my username and password into the site and click Sign In, I can authenticate successfully. I thought the site was broken or my password was incorrect for a while because I did not anticipate that 1PW would do anything after auto-fill, other than click the sign-in button. It seems that the extension is doing something after auto-filling the username and password that causes the page to reload but it is not the equivalent of pressing the sign in button.

I found a setting in the extension that says "Don't Sign In Automatically". When I enable this setting, I expect that after I click auto-fill, I will still have to click Sign In. Instead, when I click auto-fill, auto-login still occurs, however it works correctly.

I am confused. In the Windows App, I can apply auto-fill behavior for each website by clicking the auto-fill setting next to each website.

  • Where is the equivalent setting for "Sign In Automatically" in the Windows App?
  • Why isn't the "Sign In Automatically" setting preventing 1PW from doing anything other than auto-filling the username and password?
  • Why doesn't "Sign In Automatically" show up under the "Autofill Settings" in the Windows App?
  • Is there any other way to report this problem so 1PW can fix the root cause(not the equivalent of pressing the sign-in button)?

Thanks For Your Help,

Matt C.

  • Hello idlehands! 👋

I'm sorry that 1Password isn't correctly filling and submitting your login credentials when signing into MyChart. We've received received another report of this behaviour and it does look like the autosubmit feature is the culprit.

I've filed an issue with our development team to get this fixed. For the time being, keeping autosubmit turned off for that particular website is the best option. Here are the steps for anyone else who runs into the same issue:

    1. Click on the 1Password icon in Firefox's toolbar.
    2. Find and select the Login item for MyChart.
    3. Click the three dots in the upper right corner of the item, click "Don't sign in automatically".

The autosubmit setting is only available in 1Password in the browser since it's a browser-specific setting. "Sign in automatically" is a setting that controls whether 1Password submits the login for you after you fill the login.

Hopefully our developers are able to get this fixed in a future update soon. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
