BUG: iPad password slider bar unusable

This is a bug that has been in the 1Password iPad app for over 3 years, yet you guys at 1Password refuse to fix it. Will you ever fix this bug?

I have reported this bug at least 3 times to you over the last 3 years, yet you guys at 1Password still refuse to fix it. Why haven’t you fixed this bug yet?

On the iPad, when generating a password, we are required to use the slider bar to choose the length of the password.

However, your app will only let us choose a few password lengths: 8 characters, 18 characters, and 55 characters.

We are unable to choose any other password lengths, because the slider bar just jumps over a ton of numbers. If we try to choose 19 or 20 characters, it just jumps all the way to 55 characters.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but we’re paying you guys a monthly fee to generate passwords, yet your app won’t even let us generate passwords (in our desired lengths).

In other words, you are taking money from us so that we can generate passwords, yet your app doesn’t allow us to actually generate passwords.

Does this seem fair to you? Does this seem like you are a quality company that can be trusted?

When will you finally fix this bug?

And, if your engineers are too unknowledgeable on how to fix this bug, then why not just remove the slider bar altogether? Why don’t you just let us type in the number of characters that we want?

  • Hello scotty321! 👋

I'm sorry for the frustration caused by the password length slider not working properly on your iPad. You're correct that this is a known issue that our team is aware of and tracking. I've checked our internal tracker and I see that the internal work item to get this fixed is still open with the team.

While I'm not able to provide specific ETA as to when we'll be able to resolve this issue, I can tell you that we're aware that it's something that is definitely in need of fixing. I've also flagged this to the appropriate team internally.

For the time being, as a temporary workaround, you can use the password generator included with 1Password for Safari (the Safari extension, not the app) to generate new passwords on your iPad: Create a custom password

    Hi 1P_Dave ,

I use Chrome for iPad, so I cannot use the 1Password extension on the iPad.

As it has been over 3 years and this bug affects the core functionality of the product, I feel like your team needs to make this a priority bug fix. It has gone on way too long.

    Thank you!
