Face ID failing and unreliable after update
Apologies if this issue has already been discussed elsewhere but the latest update to 1Password for iOS has introduced a bug where the first Face ID scan will fail when invoking 1P through Password AutoFill
Steps to reproduce:
- Visit website with a stored login
- click 1P suggestion above keyboard
- Face ID scan will often fail, prompting for the account password and immediately and produces haptic feedback
- Press Face ID icon again and the second scan will usually work fine
Minor issue but it is frustrating having this happen at nearly every login
Thanks!
1Password Version: 8.10.20

OS Version: iOS 17.1.1

Glad I’m not alone. Really hoping this is fixed soon. I’ve sat quiet for too long about it.

We're testing a fix in the beta version of 1Password for iOS. Once testing has confirmed that the fix fully resolves the issue, and that there aren't any problems, then we'll include the fix in a stable release as soon as possible.
I'm sorry for the continued trouble.

This bug is unfortunately still happening. It even occurred while I was logging in to post this. Funny enough the bug even exists on the Vision Pro with Optic ID. Also FYI, the Safari extension is very glitchy in Safari on the Vision Pro, but that’s a separate issue.

If you're part of the beta please let us know how it goes.

Problem should be fixed in beta released today. I hope it worked and the fix is coming to the stable version in the next days.

@Postmaster
I'm sorry that you're running into the same issue and for the inconvenience. Our developers have finished coding a fix for the issue and we're currently testing it internally. If internal testing goes well then the fix will be introduced to the beta and then the production version as soon as possible.
Please continue to keep 1Password for iOS updated so that you receive the fix as soon as it is available.

Don’t worry, your name will be added to the bug tracker and until end of 2024 there will be a fix from the developers.
But always remember: if Face ID or Touch ID fails on a first attempt, you can still unlock 1Password using Face ID or Touch ID by making a second attempt as noted earlier in the thread.

Since iOS 17 I also have this issue. Now I have iOS 17.3 and iPhone 13 mini.
