3 years agoFace ID Not Working [Fixed. Please see the approved answer for details.]

.
I have upgraded to 1Password 8 for Mac. Yesterday I had to re-set my iPhone settings and since then I cannot use Face ID to open 1Password. I have re-installed the 1Password app, checked to make sure 1Password is approved for using Face ID on my phone. Can you advise?

Also 1P_PeterG - Can you comment on the general timeline of the production release of the update? I see that the 10/28 Testflight build includes:
You can now use Face ID and Touch ID to unlock 1Password in Safari after updating to iOS 16.1 or later. #17988
If the update is literally around the corner, 1 - 2 weeks, I'll skip the beta. Given that there's a lot bottled into that update, I could see it taking longer however, and if the release is further out, I would likely save my thumbs the additional travel take the beta plunge.
Thanks again.

Thanks 1P_PeterG (and all 1P folks involved), looking forward to the update!

@Gingered I'd argue we're actually paying to be beta testers since we're still paying our monthly subscription fee.
I'm not sure if it's hubris, incompetence or just obliviousness, but AgileBits just doesn't seem to comprehend how frustrating the entire Password 8 experience has been, and how many bridges have been burned and much trust has been lost as a result.
At this point a simple update, no matter how many issues it fixes or features it brings back (as the vast majority of features being espoused in this upcoming update are features that were missing when compared to 1P7) won't be enough to rebuild the trust b/W AB and its customers. Truly, the only thing that could even start to fix these issues would be an apology from the 1P developers (and especially dteare who has been straight up rude when it comes to 1P8 issues). However, based on 1P_PeterG's post (and the blog he links to), the developers are still blind to how much they've f***ed up.

I totally agree with noraar
1P8 isn't a free application. We are paying a yearly subscription and are testing for free 1P8 to help the dev to solve all those bugs that are still not solved since months now.
Being forced to downgrade to 1P7 because your application is so messy isn't acceptable.

1P_PeterG While all of these changes/fixed sound great, I feel we’ve reached the point of too little, too late. 1P8 has been such a mess across multiple platforms, I don’t have a lot of faith left in the developers to actually get things right. Given the numerous, well documented, and fundamental issues with 1P8, users should be getting multiple months free for essentially beta testing software that was far from ready for prime time.

“Soon?” Care to be more specific? “Soon” is all we’ve heard for MONTHS. "You [AgileBits] keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means." [The Princess Bride]
AgileBits REALLY has no project management timeline containing an ACTUAL date that you could share?!?!?

So I'm guessing this means another month or so until this 5+ month horror show is out. Thanks 1P.

Hi folks! Thank you for your feedback here, and for letting us know the impact of this issue for you.
We have some news: there are substantial improvements to FaceID coming, as part of a major update to 1Password - which is arriving soon.
While this update contains a lot of improvements, our developers have been giving extra attention to the iOS experience.
In addition to many improvements to FaceID unlock, the update will also include:
- search within a list of items
- default vault for saving
- PIN unlock
- Better VoiceOver support
- offline indicator for when you don't have network connectivity
- advanced domain / subdomain matching
- ability to turn off auto-submit for Universal Autofill
And quite a bit more. The full details are covered in our latest blog post.
We know that this FaceID issue has been a high-impact one and are looking forward to sharing this update with you. Thank you again for your patience, and there will be more to come soon!

Because those bugs are outdated since months now and are still not solved, I switched back to 1P7 that works perfectly.
- 1P8 Face ID option not available in iOS Safari extension.
- In the security section on 1P8 iOS beta, if you choose 'never' for 'Require password' it always goes back to 30 days.
FYI I already contacted support and the answer I got is please wait.
"Our developers are aware of the issue and are currently investigating. As of this writing, I do not have a timeline of when the fix will be available. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this bug has caused."Seriously it is not acceptable. We are facing real functionalities regression since months now.

I don’t have an ETA on when the fix will be ready but this is a top priority for the team and the fix will be included in an upcoming update.
If this is really a top priority, how many other priorities do you have that are "top"?
** Create the fix and release a hotfix update!**. Our developers have a fix ready and we plan to release it as soon as possible.
plan... asap. So again no promises, this can be weeks or months from now.I have been typing in the password since months now, what kind of compensation can we expect from 1password
