3 years agoFace ID Not Working [Fixed. Please see the approved answer for details.]

.
I have upgraded to 1Password 8 for Mac. Yesterday I had to re-set my iPhone settings and since then I cannot use Face ID to open 1Password. I have re-installed the 1Password app, checked to make sure 1Password is approved for using Face ID on my phone. Can you advise?
1Password Version: 1Password for Mac 8.8.0

not good enough that the communication is all coming from our side and no real word after months and months of users sending diagnostics and info. enough is enough.

Reading between the lines, it sounds to me like Apple is holding up approval of their latest app update for some reason, and Ben can’t elaborate for fear of angering Apple. It could be that Apple wants a bigger cut of 1p’s revenue - holding up app updates is a common tactic they use against developers for this reason.

This is absolutely absurd and inexcusable. I have spent hours trying to resolve and sent numerous diagnostic reports with no reply. Bugs are one thing but horrible service, lying, failure to reply is inexcusable. Goodbye 1PW.

I think you could clarify what do you call logistical issue or roadblock, that will help a lot of people like me to figure out why it is taking so long. Not answering this would mean that you have something to hide.
Everybody involved into software engineering topic perfectly know that such issue is and should be considered as a priority hotfix.

That's the latest update @milkaCH. I'm sorry I don't have anything further to add.

engineering has created a fix for the problem. The difficulty is in the logistics of getting that fix into the hands of customers. Our intention is to ship an update as soon as we can, but we have to overcome those logistical hurdles. It won't be until after the 1st of the year, I'm afraid, and then I couldn't say more specifically when it will be after that.
Sent one week ago in another thread. What’s new ? Still no clear explanation

Hi all,
Code has been written to address the issues with biometrics on iOS. We've been held up by unforeseen roadblocks on getting updates shipped on that platform, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I expect we'll be able to push the changes that have been made in the near future. Unfortunately I am still not in a position to say exactly when that'll be.
As some folks have alluded above things are already better in the beta, and we've made further improvements beyond that.
There is an end in sight. I appreciate your patience as we work toward getting these fixes in your hands, and apologize for the lack of regular updates in this thread. There just hasn't been much to say beyond what was already said.

1Password 7 ❤️
Because of this Face ID problem, my wife and I had to go back to 1Password 7, and strangely that was positive 😅. The app is native, simple and quick!

Here’s a suggestion if everyone on this thread were to suddenly write support at: support@1password.com we’d see some action.
I’m blown away by how little this thread is being monitored by 1pw staff. If they are monitoring this thread how little they comment.
This issue, and a few others, are not being addressed by 1pw staff causes me great concern and a loss of confidence in the app and staff.
