Feature Request – Default Item Name Should Be Blank
Hello,
I'd like to request that the iOS and Mac 1Password apps behave differently when creating new items.
The Item Name is automatically set to the Item Type (e.g., "Login"). This requires me to manually delete the pre-filled name before entering a custom one, which adds unnecessary steps.
It would be more user-friendly if the Item Name field were left blank by default, allowing users to input their preferred name immediately.
Thank you for considering this improvement.

Hello NORO! 👋
Thank you for reaching out! You can enter your preferred title for an item, rather than having 1Password set a default title, by modifying your workflow slightly:
- Select the + New Item button (or + in the iOS app).
- In the "What would you like to add?" window, type in the title of the item that you'd like to add, for example you can type in "Microsoft" when saving login credentials for your Microsoft account.
- Click the item of item that you'd like to create, for example a Login item.
You'll see that what you typed in at step 2 is now automatically set as the item's title. The default "Login" title is only used if you don't type in anything at step 2.
I hope that helps. 🙂

I completely agree with this request. I noticed this change recently and I use a business account with a personal account linked. There seems to be no setting available to prevent the username from automatically filling when creating a new login item. My personal email is always filled as the default for some reason even though I'm creating the login item within my employee vault. Usernames are not always email addresses too so prefilling this field does not make sense and should be turned off in a future update.

It sounds like you're talking about something a little different from the original poster of this thread, who is talking about item titles. You can find username suggestions being discussed over in this thread. 🙂
