Feature Request - Access Notifications
Hi All!
I come to you today with a feature request. Often, we need to store passwords that many people should have access to, but should not be accessing regularly (consider break-glass accounts, service accounts, etc - there are many examples of such things)
A separate entry type that specifically notifies administrators when the login is accessed (that is, the password is copied or revealed) would be very cool. The fact that this is something that will occur is something that should be made very clear to the user when viewing the entry (perhaps even a popup to confirm when they attempt to access the details).
The crux as I see it is offline access, but there are ways to address that issue, maybe even several options that the administrator could configure (eg. do not allow access when offline, or allow access but report when next connected)
Perhaps this is a very niche use-case, but I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one who has wished for this functionality
Thanks for your work on 1Password!
Cheers.
Hello SamFromSpace! 👋
Thank you for the request! This is something that I've seen requested a few times, usually from business users, and I can see how it would be useful in controlling and monitoring when someone access a certain item. I've filed a feature request on your behalf to have the team look into bringing such a feature to 1Password in the future.
For the time being, you can use the 1Password Events API to pipe certain item usage events to your security information and event management (SIEM) system where you can setup notifications that will trigger based on certain events. You can read more here:
I hope that helps and thanks again for the feedback.-Dave
