Feature request: Restructured items list

There is a thing I for a long time wish could be changed with the password manager, despite that I already like it very much as it is. It is the list of items that I wish could be restructured with the image shown below as an example. I have edited that image a lot to remove personal information, and to show how I would like it to be restructured. In this example do I have seven different Google accounts for different purposes (I actually have eight Google accounts, not all of them in use any longer). All that Google accounts are shown in the items list with the same name "Google", but with different account name, which is actually the user name for the account as it is now. That makes the items list very long as it is the same with other accounts for other web sites or what it is.

I wish that all the accounts also could be given an account name in addition to the name of the web site (Google or whatever I decide to name it). The account name is the name I select to make it easy to understand what that specific Google account is used for. It could for example be named "Bob" for Bob's account. Then I would like to have all that accounts moved to a drop down list in the top of the item details in the right pane. That drop down list should show my selected account name, or the user name as default if I have not entered my own account name. Only one item for Google will remain in the items list beside other items like for example one item for all the Microsoft accounts (I have six of them in the items list beside the eight Google accounts).

After the restructure would I first have to select Google in the items list and then the specific Google account in the drop down box in the right pane, like the account named "Bob". In the boxes at the web pages for the user name, that are auto filled, would it be shown Google and the account name (which by default is the user name as it is now). I hope it is possible to follow my explanation of this restructure, but otherwise let me now if something is confusing.

I understand that this is probably not an easy thing to implement, as it would maybe require a lot of changes in the code, but it would improve the overview of all the information a lot, so I think it would be worth the job (well, job for someone else).

  • Hello jonand! 👋

Thank you for the feedback! It sounds like you're describing nested items, where all of your login credentials for a particular website would be nested inside of one item in order to reduce clutter in the item list. Let me know if I misunderstood.

One potential problem here is that nested items of this sort can't be moved around between vaults. What if you have one Google item that contains your personal account credentials and another that contains credentials for a work account that is shared with a team? You would still need two separate items in order to keep one item in your Private vault and another in your team's shared vault.

I have multiple Google accounts as well and I've reduced clutter by using multiple sections for each account. Here's what that looks like:

Would something like that work for you? Alternatively, you can also put your different Google accounts in different vaults and then create collections for different purposes to reduce the number of items that you see at any one time. So you could have a work collection that only shows your accounts for work: Use collections to create custom groups of vaults
