Google's advanced protection

I use 1password and have enabled google's "advanced protection" (https://landing.google.com/intl/en_in/advancedprotection/).  I recently attempted to restore my android phone from backup and found it impossible to logon to google without temporarily disabling advanced protection.  Note that the restore logon takes place before I have 1password on the device.

Google insisted that I use my passkeys which were not on the device.  It also had an option to scan a QR code from another device which had the passcode, but I don't know of a way to scan this QR code from 1password.

Has 1password thought of supporting this somehow, or is temporarily disabling the advanced protection the preferred solution?

I'm sorry that you ran into an issue when restoring your Android phone from a backup. If 1Password isn't installed on a device then you can still sign in using a passkey saved in 1Password by using the QR code option and scanning that QR code using the camera app on another mobile device where 1Password is installed (such as a tablet).

If you don't have another device then, for your Google account specifically since password-only sign in will be turned off if you've opted to turn on Google's Advanced Protection, you might consider adding a hardware security key (like a YubiKey) to your account so that you can sign into your Google account using the security key in a situation where you need to sign in before 1Password is installed.

    I hope that helps.
