2 years agoI have a Personal vault and a Primary vault on my Mac. Can I delete my Primary vault?
I think my Primary vault was created a long time ago, with a previous version of 1Password. The Primary appears to have old information. My other devices iPhone and iPad only have Personal vaults. Ar...

You are correct the Primary
vault is part of 1Password 7 (and earlier.) It was from before memberships. It synced via 3rd parties.
The Personal
vault indicates that you have a 1Password membership which syncs through your account on 1Password.com.
If you see both types you're likely still using 1Password 7 or perhaps earlier. If your device supports it I would recommend using 1Password 8. But before doing that I would highly recommend getting that vault squared away.
⚙️ System requirements for 1Password
- Ensure the Primary vault does not contain any data you wish to use or keep.
- If it does not and you're ready to remove it you'll deselect this setting.
1Password > Preferences > Advanced - Local Vaults - Allow creation of vaults outside of 1Password accounts
. - If there is data you wish to keep (inside the Primary vault) you'll want to move it to your membership. You'll likely need to recreate it. Please ensure you've saved any attachments. You'll need to manually add them to the membership vaults. That's if they do not exist there now. They may.
Then if you're ready you can move to 1Password 8 for Mac

In the end with a 1Password membership you will not have a Primary vault. The Personal vault has taken its place.
