Migrate to different region

I currently have a Family subscription in the US region, with everything that is going on in the world I would prefer to migrate that to the EU region.

I know there is a knowledge base article: https://support.1password.com/regions/#change-your-region

This is however not very straight forward as it requires me to set up multiple new accounts, pay for them, copy items manually, close accounts, hopefully get a refund for the remaining tie on the old account, etc.

Are there any plans to create a simpler migration?

    There aren’t any plans to change this process at the moment. Because of how 1Password’s security model works, changing your account region isn’t as simple as flipping a switch. Your data is encrypted locally on your devices before it ever reaches our servers, and accounts in different regions operate independently from one another. This means there’s no direct way to migrate an account between regions without setting up a new one and moving your data manually.
