New: Add a location to any 1Password item and access what you need, exactly where you need it

👋 Hey everyone,

Whether you need to pull up local Wi-Fi credentials, medical records at your doctor's, or door codes at your workplace, the information you need is often tied to a physical location – and 1Password is making it easier to access it.

This feature, designed to give you easy access to your items wherever and whenever you need them, began as a Hackathon project. The positive response from attendees signalled this was the perfect experiment for 1Password labs, a space in the 1Password apps that lets customers test new and experimental features.

Your feedback here in our community forums has been fantastic. It's helped us understand what's working for you and refine the feature to make today's release even better. Thank you for being part of the journey!

Now, you can now add specific locations to items stored in your vaults, and they’ll appear in the home tab of the 1Password mobile app when you’re near those locations. Read our blog to find out all the details!

I'd love to hear your thoughts – try out the new feature and let me know your feedback in the comments below 🙌

1P_DannyThis feature is brilliant. Thank you for this!

One suggestion: I note it is limited to adding a single location to any given entry. I have a few entries where it would be helpful to add multiple locations — such as medical ID info that I need to reference in a few different locations (not just a single doctor's office, for example).  Please consider the ability to add multiple locations.

(Until this feature, I just flagged those entries as "favorites" to find them easily — though they aren't really my favorites. :) It would be neat for them to bubble up automatically and only when I need them, at those specific locations.)

Thanks to the team for launching this feature! A small correction regarding the German localization.

Question on this: what is the location polling frequency and drain in terms of battery? If I open 1PW does the app simply call on the phone’s existing collected location data or is it actively asking at that time? If that makes sense. Just trying to ascertain any overall battery impacts. Thank you!
