4 years agoTool for detecting and removing duplicates? [Available in 8.10.18]
I have several logins that somehow have been duplicated in 1Password 8. This may have happened in different times when I've attempted to migrate my 1Password 7 data to my 1Password.com account.
In any case, I have a load of duplicates in 1Password 8 and it would be very helpful if there were an efficient tool or feature to help me merge/dedupe these entries (and ideally test them to make sure that I'm preserving the correct credentials).
Any thoughts/ideas for how to handle this situation?

Hmm, perhaps I have been deprioritized, i.e., 'banned.' If so, this is not a pleasant way to treat customers who supported you from the very beginning.
Has anyone had any success with scripting their own de-duplication tool? Would reverting back to 1PW 7 to use that tool potentially damage my database? Maybe someone could build one in the current hackathon?

Bump.
Also, somebody, please respond to confirm you can still see my comments, and that I haven't been “deprioritized.” - spinozaDedicated Contributor

Please post here if you have any success. I have not. Only response I get is "you can remove your duplicates manually." Not helpful.
Thanks.

1Password is never going to fix it. We all must move on or over to another password manager.

I've passed along all of your requests and feedback regarding a feature to help identify and remove duplicates to our product team. Thank you for adding your voice.
In the meantime, I recommend sending an email to support+forum@1Password.com so that our support team can see if there is anything that they can do to help you clean up the duplicates in your specific cases. Please include the following in your email:
- Your forum username.
- A link to this thread:

- A note that you have duplicate items in 1Password and the specific circumstances that led you to having duplicates (for example, after importing items from another password manager).

I recently updated to 1Password for Mac 8, and also have a "duplicates" issue. But they're not really duplicates.
welcome to the club!
It is pointless to post in the community forum, you will only get "there, there" responses from 1P community support staff.
You will get further if you create support ticket at https://support.1password.com/contact/ > "Don't see my problem listed" > "None of these apply" > "Email"
The explanation I got from email support is that passwords are stored using one-way encryption, so 1Password only see encryption hash "fingerprint" for each entry and that fingerprint will be different every time regardless if you are looking at two identical entries.
Support person mentioned that there may or may not be methods to work around that and detect duplicates. From conversation I got the impression that this barrier is too high for 1Password engineers to resolve this challenging issue. And suffering of just few hundred of users is not enough to justify the to cost of researching this functionality. - Former Member
+1. There is still not a solution for the duplicate problem?!

It seems this problem has been there for a year, and still there's not a fix?!

Same issue here. All of the items have a duplicated version now. All the archived version of items now become standalone duplicate items.
