3 years agoTouchID stopped working since iOS16 [Fixed. Please see the approved answer for details.]

.
Since I updated to iO16, TouchID is no longer recognized by apps. The TouchID dialog appears, but then terminates as if the finger is not recognized. 1Password then falls back to the login code. Other apps, such as one for signing PDFs, report "Authentication not successful". When I disable TouchID in 1Password Settings, the switch remains grayed out and cannot be enabled. I reinstalled 1Password, now it tries to use TouchID again and falls back to the LogIn code at the first finger touch.
It seems that apps in general have problems accessing the security engine, otherwise TouchID works for all other areas like unlock, wallet cards, etc..

Would love to hear how this has hit 1Password specifically and not other apps. Thank you for addressing this.

Yes rolling back to 7 is a working option. It’s ridiculous that we have to do this but from what I’ve heard from support they seem to be close on a solution.

I was able to install 1Password 7 from my apps not on my phone from the cloud and now have both installed and chose version 7 to do autofill and it works and so does face ID.. yay! I guess now I can safely delete v 8 once I see my latest info on there.

I think it's even easier just to switch back to version 7 if that is possible?

Uh…far easier to erase the phone and restore from a backup than switching to another password manager. Don’t understand why people get so touchy about this stuff. In the grand plan of your life this isn’t even a blip man. Relax.

I have the same issue. What a royal pain. If it's not fixed soon I'll need to find another password manager.

Also, I have erased and re set up my device as NEW many times over the last few months and it DID NOT fix the issue.

Thank you for acknowledging us!!! It’s been hard not hearing back from anyone as it felt the issue was just being ignored.
Updates shouldn’t be so tricky to get :( - 1P_Dave

Hello @BKKPeter! 👋
I'm sorry to hear that Touch ID is not working with 1Password on your iPhone. Our developers are working on a fix for an issue that sounds like the one that you've described. So that I can confirm that you're affected by this issue (and not an unrelated issue), I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your iOS device:
