Will 1Password Windows support connect to additional browsers?
Hi,
I'm using 1Password Desktop with a Chromium-based browser compiled by myself. On macOS I use the "Connect to additional browser" feature to add my signed browser application to 1Password. However I can't find this feature on 1Password Desktop Windows. Will it be supported in future updates?
Hello 1puser1! 👋
Thanks for reaching out! The team hopes to bring the custom additional browsers feature to 1Password on other platforms (like Windows) in the future. For the time being, you may still be able to use 1Password in your unsupported Chromium browser but you'll need to unlock the browser extension separately from the desktop app using your account password.

I completely agree with the need for this feature on Windows. As a daily Windows user, I’m frustrated that macOS has the ability to "Connect to additional browsers" while Windows users are left with a fragmented experience. Having to unlock the browser extension separately from the desktop app (as Dave mentioned) feels like an unnecessary hurdle—especially when the infrastructure for seamless integration clearly exists on other platforms.
This disparity creates a subpar experience for Windows users like myself. For example, when working with other browser as Zen Browser, the lack of this feature adds friction and inefficiency. It’s disappointing to see such a critical functionality lag behind on Windows, especially when cross-platform parity is a common expectation in 2024.
I urge the team to prioritize bringing this feature to Windows soon. Many of us chose 1Password for its polish and reliability, but inconsistencies like this undermine that trust. Please keep the community updated on progress here—we’d love clarity on timelines or priorities.
Thanks for listening.
