Got error: 1Password failed to create a backup: "Data" doesn't exist

I had v7, but uninstalled because I don't want to pay for the subscription. Installed my prev v6 again, synced with Dropbox without problems. Everything OK. Now, local backups don't work, due to some permission (?) errors. The "1Password 4" folder in my niklas/Library/Application Support/ has permissions 755, niklas/staff. See attachment for complete error:

1Password Version: 6.8.9
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: 10.14.5
Sync Type: Dropbox

Welcome to the forum, @niklasbackman! I'm sorry for the trouble. A few things: first, 1Password 7 for Mac and 1password.com memberships are not the same thing. We still sell standalone licenses for 1Password 7 for Mac, so if you'd like to enjoy the benefits of the current version, you can certainly do that; just download from us directly (not the Mac App Store, as we no longer have a direct purchase option there), and you should be all set.

We really don't recommend returning to/sticking with legacy versions of our software, any more than we as a security company recommend you stick with old versions of your browser or your OS. If you can, you should keep all mission-critical software of that nature updated. Let us know if you have any questions about purchasing 1Password 7 for Mac.

If you just want to avoid the permissions error you're seeing, I'm not entirely sure what steps you may have taken to get things into this state, but you should be able to use these instructions to fully remove 1Password 6 for Mac and the support files, and then you can download and install a fresh copy of 1Password 6 for Mac and use Dropbox as your data source on first-run. Hope that helps!
