1PW v6, Shift, and Secret Key issue
I'm trying to integrate 1PW into my Shift app and I've run in to the missing Secret Key issue. I feel like I ran into this a couple of years back but can't recall the solution. Following the steps to finding it results in zilch, as there are no accounts listed in my Preferences pane with which to recover one. I'm able to sign into the desktop app and the browser extension all day long. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @IWOhoncho
I'm not familiar with Shift, and as far as I'm aware we don't have any supported integrations with any such app. Could you elaborate on what you're trying to accomplish?

Shift is an email and app consolidation app. I'm trying to activate the 1PW extension and am unable to do so because it's asking for the Secret Key.
For reference, here's the link to Shift: https://tryshift.com/apps/
I've located an Emergency Kit document from a few years back but the Secret Key listed in there isn't working with my email and master pw that I use to sign into the desktop app and Chrome extension.

@IWOhoncho - I'm still unsure about what you mean by "missing Secret Key issue." If you have a 1password.com membership/account, you'll have a Secret Key that was issued to you when you first created the account. If you don't know it or didn't save your Emergency Kit (which would have included it) at the time you created the account, don't panic. Instead, try these steps to see if you can recover it from either any 1Password apps in which you might've signed into your 1Password account, or directly via a web browser that's already authorized. Let us know if you're still not able to recover it. Good luck! :)

To add to what Lars said, we recommend against entering your 1Password credentials into anything that isn't 1Password. We don't have any specific integration or support for Shift.

Thanks Ben and Lars. I hear you on not signing in to external apps. That aside, I'm still unable to sign into my account. There aren't any accounts listed in my app Preferences and when I try to add one using the secret key in the Emergency Kit doc that I found, it's rejected. Same when I try to log in and follow the recovery steps Lars pointed me to.
The confusing part is that, like I said, I'm able to sign into the app and browser extension easily. Any thoughts there?

In 1Password for Mac under 1Password > Preferences > Vaults do you see a vault called "Primary" listed? Do you also see a vault called "Personal" or "Private"? If you see a Primary vault but not Personal or Private then you are using 1Password "standalone" (without a membership). You wouldn't have a Secret Key without a membership. Are you paying a monthly or annual subscription fee? Membership is a subscription service. It is possible that you have a membership, but aren't actively using it. It is also possible that you tried membership at one point but did not continue, and that Emergency Kit is from that trial.
If there are no accounts listed in 1Password > Preferences > Accounts that would suggest you aren't utilizing a 1Password membership, and thus would not have a (valid) Secret Key.
Please let us know what you find.

Ok, I only see the Primary vault. So, standalone it is, then?

Correct, and as such not using a membership (and no Secret Key applicable).
