Why are you promoting subscriptions over licenses?
Looking around your forums nearly EVERYONE is frustrated and confused by the near-forced migration to a subscription model. Why is Agilebits acting so disrespectfully towards its fanbase?
Why does it matter?
- I previously purchased a full retail 1Password license $40 USD and then an iOS license on top of that ($10 USD). I then purchased a 1Password 7 standalone license ($60). 1Password is incredibly expensive relative to other offerings--Dashlane, Lastpass, Keeper, etc. You offer no free option. You don't even offer free mobile apps. Now you want to invalidate my purchases by forcing a migration to a subscription model. Ugh I feel betrayed.
- I don't want to store my passwords online. I don't care how secure your servers are. I don't care if it's convenient. It's my choice and Agilebits should respect that.
- I don't want to keep paying for a subscription to a password manager. If I forget a payment would I no longer have access to something as important as passwords? What if you go out of business? Who pays for you to keep hosting my stuff?
- Fundamentally, if you force customers to adhere to shifts in your business model, you should at least incentivize the switch without sacrificing goodwill. You've arbitrarily changed up your business model and pissed me off as a customer.

Hi folks.
While we are no longer advertising the option we do still sell and support standalone licenses and standalone usage. If you prefer that option it is available to you. Licenses are regularly $65 USD + tax each but are, as of writing, on sale for a limited time for $50 USD + tax each. They are available for purchase within the 1Password 7 apps (Mac & Windows, separately).

Fortunately that isn't how it works. Even if you stop paying for your membership you'll continue to have read-only access to your data. You wouldn't be able to add new items or make changes (or use the browser extensions) but you can view and export your information. We don't lock you out of your data. If we were to disappear off the face of the earth then syncing would stop working eventually. You'd want to migrate your data to another solution. But you would be able to do that. Your information is cached on each of your devices, so even if we go away you still have it. You can actually test this. If you have a membership turn on AirPlane mode... that way there is no chance your device is communicating with our servers. You'd still have access to all of your data. That's what it would be like if we disappeared. Everything is stored locally before it is synced. This is true regardless of how you sync your 1Password data.

So where is the option for standalone??
I’m pretty sure I purchased MacOS 1password7 somewhere - I’ve upgraded every time you’ve demanded, since v1.
Now my MacOS app is requesting I subscribe to regain full access.
I am not entering into a monthly subscription with any software supplier, not Agile nor Youtube nor Apple.
Where on earth do I purchase (or repurchase) my stand alone MACOS 1password licence?
I’ve even overwritten the 7 app with one from the Apple Store but that just shunts me to the online subscription page again (despite stating purchase options were within the app).
Hours wasted going around in circles.. was this by design??
Please make the MacOS stand alone purchase clear
Regards
