Clarification of Options
Dear support team,
These questions are for a young and small company with about 10 employees and some external people consulted for projects. The main question is: what is the best option for the company to use 1password?
Is it possible to get one 1password Business account and then use guest accounts for all employees and freelancers ? With the above mentioned size it would work (it would be too expensive if every employee had to pay the 8,99 USD). Would all guests have to have access to the same vault or could it be different for every guest? (For example: One guest needs access to more passwords than another therefore two separate vaults would be necessary.)
Would 1password Families be an option ? Right now it seems like the only other viable option as it includes 5 members and to invite more for only 1 USD each.
The only difference between business/ team or family members and guest members is that guests only have access to a single vault (regardless of package), yes? If so, what is the size of such a vault or the limit of passwords one could share within such a vault?
With the Teams account it is 3,99 USD per member, not per company, correct? Is it possible to add more guest accounts by paying an extra fee? Or is it only possible to add more members and not more (than 5) guests?
Just to make sure: Migrating existing data to a new account is possible regardless of the package chosen (family, team, ...) ?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you in advance!

Hi @anma_gr! Welcome to the forum!
The best option is probably going to be a Business account (so you also get free Families accounts for each account member). A Teams account can also be an option, but it has less features and it doesn't come with Families accounts included in the price.

It could be different for every guest, but each guest can only access one single vault.

In a business environment, we don't recommend a Families account, as it's not built with this use case in mind, and it's missing all the business features (such as reporting, more storage space etc).
With the Teams account it is 3,99 USD per member, not per company, correct?
Correct :+1:

Also correct :+1:
I would encourage you to reach out to our business team at business@1password.com via email however. Since you are still thinking what the best choice in your case would be, they might be able to help you suggest your best option, so you can have a private conversation over there :)

Hello @ag_ana ! Thank you very much for the quick reply.
I have a few follow-up questions:1) For a business account a member gets a free family account. Could the business member and the family members share vaults/ passwords or is that not possible?
2) If a business and family account is connected the family accounts can access the passwords but cannot use the same features as the business account holder, yes?
3) Can the guest of a business account use the features of the business account (if given the permission)?
Thank you for the referral to the business team! That sounds helpful for any further questions :-)

Sharing between different accounts is not possible: in order to share information, both members must be part of the same 1Password account (either the Families or the Business one). You cannot currently share between a Families and a Business account (or viceversa).
2) If a business and family account is connected the family accounts can access the passwords but cannot use the same features as the business account holder, yes?
Correct: the free Families account comes with Families features. The business features work only within the Business account.
3) Can the guest of a business account use the features of the business account (if given the permission)?
No, guests are users with limited permissions on purpose: if you want to give them more permissions, you can invite them directly as a team member :+1:
