1Password for Safari extension

I'm confused as to the status of this Safari extension. How does it compare to the Safari extension included in 1P 7.7.8? Iā€™m currently in the situation where I simply cannot get 1Password for Safari to appear in Safari > Preferences > Extensions (or in the system menu bar), even though I see it running in Activity Monitor. However, the Safari extension included in 1P 7.7.8 does appear in Safari and in the system menu bar, when they're enabled (I did command-option quit 1P mini and I zipped 1P 7.7.8 to see if 1P8 could run by itself).

Please advise.

OS Version: 11.5.2

    Hi there @odysseus šŸ‘‹

Again, I apologize for the delay here! To clarify a bit, 1Password for Safari will go hand-in-hand with 1Password 8. I'm glad to hear you zipped 1Password 7, as I've discovered that having both 1Password 7 and 1Password 8 open at the same time can cause some connection issues on my own Mac. I'd love it if you could try the troubleshooting step I mentioned in this thread. Others had success running that command in Terminal (myself included), so I'm hoping we see the same results. I'll quote my comment below in case it'll help anyone else that comes across this thread. :)

I'm wondering if you can run a command in Terminal for me.

    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -f -R /Applications/Safari.app
That command will rebuild the launch services database, which includes the extension. It's worked for myself in the past, so I'm hoping it comes in handy here. Out of curiosity, do you have Safari Tech Preview installed at all? The last time I ran into something like this, it was an issue around STP, so that's why I'm curious.

Let me know how it goes!

That did the trick -- and it also restored some other Safari extensions whose disappearance mystified me.

Running the terminal command worked for me as well. Deserves to be highlighted in the fix hall of fame :)

Thanks for the update thymaraK. Ideally it wouldn't be necessary but I'm glad to hear it continues to function as a workaround until fixes are forthcoming.
