3 years ago1Password 8 for Mac downgrades & needed improvements
In 1Password 8 for Mac, I can no longer click on a login icon and paste the icon. I have to save a file so I can choose it. That requires many more steps than copy and paste. I did this ALL the time in version 7, so this is a major downgrade. Please put that feature back in!
When creating a memorable password, there's no option to have it add a number. I think in version 7 I'd type in the number manually, but now I can't edit the password until after it's made. So please include the ability to edit the password as it's being made (which we should be able to do), and/or at least add an option to add a number (which many passwords require). This seems like such an simple oversight I'd amazed it has never been fixed.
Not being able to resize the 1Password browser pop-up is annoying. I have a large screen and not being able to make the pop-up bigger so I can see all the info (such as long titles in the left column (which should be resizable) seems like a waste of available screen space.
I'm using Safari as my browser.
1Password Version: 8.7.0

I'm also going to downgrade after 1 day. I had to set up a replacement MacBook that my company sent me. A Google search hit 1P version 8 and as the page didn't say anything about it being beta, I installed it and upgraded my personal Macs. Big mistake. I only used it briefly enough to know it felt like a step backward and the ability to Command-nn between vaults seems to have been removed. I toggle between multiple vaults for my job plus a personal vault, so this is a major painpoint for me. I also don't like the way search results are presented. I have multiple login (and other) records with similar names. Like demohub01c and demohub02r and so forth. I could quickly bring up a tight, cozy list of results matching my search and now it feels more cumbersome; bloated.

Additionally, I just discovered you can't rearrange websites in the list of a login? That's important and could be done easily in version 7. More and more I'm not seeing what's better about version 8 and I'm only hitting limitations.

Even the iPhone app can rearrange websites in a login, but not the Mac app anymore. :(

Sneak preview: v8 on iOS can’t move fields/sections either.
There’s a post from Dave on this forum where he admits he was wrong in trying to get rid of this and they will implement it in the future.

@danrodney Excellent points. The inability to resize the popup is really annoying.
I am really surprised that so much of the functionality from V7 is missing from V8.
Is this a shortcoming of the development in Electron? - Former Member
@danrodney I too am finding the limitations far outweigh any of the 'new' features. Reordering fields and sections within an Item, and changing the field-type on-the-fly are absolutely fundermental. Have the developers really not tried updating a previously created Item by adding a new field or changing its type, and noticed that the layout and order cannot be retained? This is not progress.
I agree that the lack of copy-and-paste for images is also needlessly painful, and many users will not want to mess around in an external app to prep images just to overcome the new found limitations. It would also seem impossible to change the image associated with a Collection — it defaults to the same image used by the first Vault it contains ...nice and confusing in the Quick Search bar where one doesn't know whether the Vault is selected or the Collection.

Is there no issue when downgrading? v8 is just such a fail that its embarrassing. I was trying to get a client to start using password manager and while he understood the premise the usability issues and bugs of v8 were just embarrassing for me when showing it to the client.

@sveltemimemansion , this thread has rollback instructions and additional information. I have rolled back 4 Macs (macOS, Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge) and 1P 7 appears to be working fine. I have also turned off "automatically install updates."

Agreed on all points here.

Piggy we learned well with several companies that broke their business app by migrating to electron. downgrading to 7 is NOT a solution, its a temporary fallback and updates must be running for security reasons. overall the team making 1password have to do a proper job and looking at the negative feedback in the community its more than they can chew.
