Apologies if this issue has already been discussed elsewhere but the latest update to 1Password for iOS has introduced a bug where the first Face ID scan will fail when invoking 1P through Password AutoFill Steps to reproduce: - Visit website with a stored login - click 1P suggestion above keyboard - Face ID scan will often fail, prompting for the account password and immediately and produces haptic feedback - Press Face ID icon again and the second scan will usually work fine Minor issue but it is frustrating having this happen at nearly every login Thanks! 1Password Version: 8.10.20 Extension Version: Not Provided OS Version: iOS 17.1.1 Browser: Safari

It is really unfortunate to see this issue hasn’t been resolved nearly two months later. This affects the very basic functionality of the app. The quality decline has been disappointing to see, and is making me considering moving to something different after all these years with 1Password.

Can anyone recommend more reliable alternatives? I haven’t tried others except iCloud Keychain, which I’m seriously contemplating returning to because of the ongoing bugs with 1P. It works perfectly on iOS, but it’s not an amazing experience if you use a browser other than Safari on Mac or Windows (which I do). I’ve been a 1P user on and off for years and it’s a product I want to love, but each update seems to introduce new bugs ever since the release of 1Password 8 (although prior versions weren’t perfect either), which are always reported on this forum and whilst 1P8 has improved massively since launch, it’s still not a “premium” feeling product. I honestly wish I could recommend something else.

Hello everyone! 8.10.22 includes a fix that makes Face ID and Touch ID more reliable but it looks like more work is needed. I've flagged this internally so that our team can get this fixed as soon as possible. For now, if Face ID or Touch ID fails on a first attempt, you'll be able to unlock 1Password by making a second attempt. I've remembered your name for many years now. I am always grateful to see the folks who helped shape 1Password into what it is today. You may not have had a physical hand in the process, but your love and passion nudged the team on many fronts. Tries to step around any term like old, etc. 😆 I realize it was over 16 (ish) years ago I found myself stumbling into this community as a user who had just moved to a Mac and also needed a new password manager. Ah, it's been a long and exciting road. I'm grateful to the folks like yourself who have been here along the way. I'm very happy to hear that 1Password has been working for you. Knocks on wood. 🪵

I received a reply. „After some further testing, I've been able to replicate this behaviour on my own device. I've filed a new issue with the development team so that they can continue to investigate and work towards a fix.“

Hello everyone,

Our developers have made improvements to Touch ID and Face ID for 1Password on the iPhone and iPad. Please update to 8.10.26: How to keep 1Password up to date

After updating, you might see the issue one more time but biometric unlock should work properly after that. If you're still consistently running into the issue when using 8.10.26 please let me know and I can investigate further.

Welcome to the community! Was Face ID not working at all for you? Or were you running into the same issue as the folks in this thread where Face ID will fail the first time that you try to use it to unlock 1Password when filling a login but will succeed if you try a second time?

Changing Face ID settings for iCloud Keychain shouldn't affect 1Password.

I’m unsure if this is still an issue for all, but I went to the Settings->Passwords (in iOS) and when doing so, was prompted to use my passcode for iCloud passwords instead of facial recognition. I entered my passcode as instructed and iCloud passwords then worked with facial recognition.

I then went back to 1Password and the facial recognition was working again.
