  • Hello @tabrook! 👋

I'm sorry that you’re unable to turn on Touch ID for 1Password on your Mac. Have you turned on Touch ID for your Mac and are you able to use Touch ID to unlock the Mac itself? If you are then I'd like you to please do the following:

    1. Completely turn off your Mac and then turn it on to restart it. (Don't skip this step.)
    2. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
    3. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Touch ID & Password.
    4. Turn off all of the features, then turn all of them back on again.
    5. Go back to 1Password and choose 1Password > Settings from the menu bar.
    6. Click the Security icon, then turn on "Touch ID".
    7. Lock 1Password by choosing 1Password > Lock from the menu bar.
    8. Now try unlocking 1Password using Touch ID.

Let me know that result. 🙂

I have a similar issue. The Touch ID checkbox isn't greyed out, but it automatically unchecks whenever I check it.
I've tried above steps, but that didn't resolve the issue.

    I'm using:
    1Password for Mac 8.10.36 (81036001) (BETA channel)
    macOS 14.5 (23F79)

I'm sorry that you're unable to turn on Touch ID for 1Password. Just to confirm, are you able to unlock the Mac itself using Touch ID?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yes, I'm able to use Touch ID to unlock my Mac.

But wouldn't you know... It automagically started working again.
It doesn't trigger TouchID for authorising usage of SSH keys any more, though. Perhaps after a reboot.

  • @sbrozius

A reboot never hurts. Let us know.

"Same" here. But happened to me on the machine I'm using since close to 3 years, without any problems. Only thing I changed, was adding a fingerprint to macOS. For now I cannot activate Touch ID in 1PW settings anymore. The option is disabled.

Rebooted several times. Unlocking the machine with Touch ID works without problems. What is going on?

Seems to be like described here

That's what I see in the logs

    INFO  2024-06-15T14:28:17.546 tokio-runtime-worker(ThreadId(100)) [1P:foundation/op-apple/src/biometry_service.rs:331] System biometry info: BiometricStatus { current_policy: BiometricsOnly, current_method: TouchId, current_availability: EnrollmentChanged }

The steps described here fixed the problem. I think this is basically setting up 1PW fresh.

I created a diagnostics file before I did this. If interested I can still pass this.

  • @dawe

You did great work there. I think we can forego your report at this time.
