Opera--must keep entering master password
I am getting the message to re-enter master password because there is a new update for Opera. But I've updated Opera to the latest version (111.0.5168.25) and also have the latest version of 1Password (Version 2.24.2) in Opera.
Any idea of what is going on? Thanks.

I have the same issue with Opera on Windows. On Mac, however, I was able to solve/workaround this by following the TIP here: https://support.1password.com/connect-1password-browser-app/
Somehow the Browser Plug-In cannot connect to the Desktop App ("Status: Problems connecting"). I'm not 100% sure this worked before, but I do think so.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone and that I have the same issue, and if you find a solution I'll gladly hear it too ! :)

Hi,
I contacted tech. support and they answerd:
1Password's implementation of browser verification for Chrome (and Chromium-derived browsers like Opera) has support for both Chrome's modern and legacy native messaging hosts. An issue in this logic resulted in 1Password erroneously allowing browsers that didn't meet our pre-determined verification standards which include code signing publisher checks.
This has now been addressed by increasing the strictness of a browser validation path in our desktop app integration helper. This means that, as a security and verification measure, only supported browsers will be able to connect to the 1Password for Windows desktop app going forward.
Our team has released a custom trusted browsers feature for 1Password on the Mac and hopes to expand this feature to other platforms like Windows in the future. Custom trusted browsers will allow you to use any browser with 1Password, even those that aren't explicitly supported. I've let the team know that you're eager to see this functionality be released in 1Password for Windows as well.

Hello @RFisher200 and @ma2412! 👋
Thank you for reaching out. Opera isn't a supported browser for 1Password which means that integration between the 1Password desktop app and the browser extension won't work. An issue in previous versions of 1Password may have allowed you to use app integration with Opera but this issue has since been fixed. You may still be able to use 1Password in Opera but you'll need to unlock the browser extension using your account password.
On the Mac, we recently released a custom trusted browsers feature which allows you to add any browser with a valid code signature to 1Password for Mac. The team is hoping to bring this feature to Windows in the future but it's not available currently.
For the moment, if you'd like to have 1Password in your browser share a lock state with the desktop app so that it can use features like Windows Hello, you can switch to one of our supported browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Brave, or Microsoft Edge.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello Dave,
Thanks for your message.
So you're telling me that you "fixed" an issue that now doesn't lets me use a product I paid for ?
And that I have to change my browser on all my devices ? But only if I have a Mac I wouldn't be impacted ? I find that absolutely not normal... Can you at least please tell us how to downgrade version ? So I can use the "Flawed" one ?`
Thanks3 -
I'm sorry that I don't have better news to share. There isn't a way to download an older version and I wouldn't recommend using anything but the latest version for security reasons.
Hopefully the ability to add any browser, including Opera, to 1Password is a feature that will be added to 1Password for Windows in the future. I've let the team know that you would find the feature useful.
For the time being, you may still be able to use 1Password with Opera but, since Opera isn't a supported browser, you'll need to unlock the extension separately from the desktop app using your account password. You can set your auto-lock settings to choose how often you'd like to be prompted for your account password: How to set 1Password to lock automatically

@Dave_1P Is there any update on the status or progress on supplying support for Opera GX to communicate with logged-in verified state of the 1Password Windows Desktop application?
My daily browser used for work has been Opera GX for a few years now and the native features of Opera GX makes it so much faster to communicate than trying to find extensions on other browsers.
1Password is such an amazing tool, just wish we could get support for Opera GX again.
Thanks!

@ChameleonDevil and @zdenekvecera
I don't have any updates to share and I've shared your requests and feedback with the team internally.
For the time being, switching to a supported browser (like Brave, Chrome, Edge, or Firefox) is the best option if you'd like to have 1Password in the browser communicate with the desktop app.

@Dave_1P Ok thank you, I hoped for news that it is at least looked at. Very unfortunate that Opera isn't a priority for valid authorization communication with desktop application.
I will continue to use Opera GX like this :'(

Thanks again for the feedback. The team hopes to bring the custom trusted browser feature, which would allow you to add any validly signed unsupported browser, to 1Password for Windows. Hopefully there will be more news to share in the future.

Happy to see that there is feedback in the community from 1Password.
I will hapiliy wait until the the custom trusted browser feature is supported on Windows. Thats worth it to work in its current state, I don't wan't to change the browser :-)Good things take while. :-)
Thanks
-HarryLongtime 1Password and Opera user (Win/Mac/mobile). Around 3 months ago the sync between Win11 Opera and Desktop stopped working for me after some windows-updates - today I wanted to take some time to find the root-cause.
