Several bugs with the 1Password Android app

Hey all, I just wanted to share several bugs I've been experiencing with the Android app lately. I'm hoping that the team is already aware of these, or that there are workarounds for these problems.

  1. For some of my logins, 1Password auto-fills the incorrect email, but the correct password. I have some logins with the incorrect email that 1Password is auto-filling, but not for the sites where I've experienced this problem. I also only have a single login for each of these sites.
  2. The app is very inconsistent about auto-filling. For example, I have never been able to auto-fill on the PayPal login (neither the app nor the website), and of course this is the login I use the most often. This one hurts especially, because Chrome's built-in autofill has no problem auto-filling on PayPal or any of the other sites. So for every website/app I have this problem, I keep a duplicate login in Chrome. Super annoying.
  3. The app frequently fails to start up correctly. When this happens, the app either doesn't progress after the biometric authentication step, showing the 1Password login screen, or it just shows a black screen after authenticating. In the first scenario, the app succeeds after closing it and trying it again. However, if the app has a black screen, I have no option but to restart my phone.

I really like 1Password, but the frequency and number of bugs I've experienced over the last few years has me considering other options.

Also, the text area on this forum post form is broken on Chrome for Android - this text area is not scrollable or expandable, so I can't see or edit the beginning of this post.

    The text box scrolling here on the forum is a known issue we have brought before the team. My apologies you encountered it.

    Three sounds like a known issue the team is working with. I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your device:

    1. Open 1Password.
    2. Tap your 1Password account icon from the 1Password home screen.
    3. Tap Settings.
    4. Tap Help.
    5. Tap Send Diagnostics.
