Why can't I install the 1Password extension in Safari?
When I try to install the extension in Safari, I get the following message: "That application didn't work. The selected application was signed in an unsupported way or may be missing a required identifier." (OS 12.7.5. Safari 17.5. 1Password 8.10.34. 2020 27" Retina iMac.)
1Password Version: 8.10.34
Extension Version: 2.25.1
OS Version: 12.7.5
Browser: Safari 17.5

My OS is MacOS 12.7.5 and my browser is the latest version Apple's Safari. I think it HIGHLY unlikely that either is unsupported or fails to meet the minimum requirements. I have 1Password installed in my preferred browser, Firefox; but not all the web sites I need to visit are compatible with Firefox.

I come across all manner of folks who write in and tell us my system is fully updated. They have auto-update enabled, but for one reason or another, they are never shown any updates. Some of those pour souls have been 17 security updates behind. Yikes.
Forcing a check reveals those updates on occasion. I'm not saying you are in need of one; only that we need to rule in or out it as the culprit. Based on the numbers you provided, it's a slim chance but one we still need to consider. Can you check manually and look for any security updates?
Assuming the above is not fruitful and, should you want to skip to something more exciting, try the following. If the below is not fruitful, try the beginning portion. 🙂
Open and unlock the main 1Password app.
Click the Help menu > Troubleshooting > Fix Missing Safari Extension. If this fails, it's likely time to get you over to my colleagues on the technical team for further review and the chance to gather some logs.

Thanks.
I have made the manual checks you recommended. There are no updates available for my OS or Safari. BTW, I never use "auto-update."
I tried the troubleshooting fix, but when I clicked on "Fix MIssing Safari Extension," nothing seemed to happen. I then checked for extensions installed in Safari and 1Password wasn't there.
Looks like it's time to get me over to your tech team colleagues.

Oops. I spoke too soon. After I posted my comment, I went back to Safari and the 1Password extension was there. I activated it, and it seems to be working. Thanks for your help!!

I'm pretty diligent about keeping my software up to date, but I don't like using auto-updates because I like to be aware when anything affecting my computer's operation changes. More than once, an update has been wonky and caused problems. If my computer starts acting differently, I want to have a clue as to why.
That being said, I want to give 1Password some well deserved praise. I've been relying on 1Password for MANY YEARS to give me online protection. It's THE BEST. I recommend it to anyone who will listen. Thanks to the entire team for creating, maintaining, and enhancing it.

We're happy you're part of the family. I started out managing my own updates much as you do. Sometime over the years I flipped the switch.
I shared your feedback with the team internally. Thank you for being so kind.
