Hallo,
it looks that an old issue is back:

I get an email notifications that a safari extention from a new device logged into 1password,
and that happens each time I start up the Safari browser (on iOS and iPadOS)...

I updated to IOS /iPadOS 18.3 (22D5034e) beta recendly.
1Password version 8.10.56

Are there suggestions how that can be avoided ?

Same thing occurring here, might be picking up that I signed in on a different network, but it's the same device and browser.

Same issue here. Why is it reporting my own device as an unknown device, every time I use Safari? These emails are constant now, what’s going on?

Same. This is definitely a new issue as it hasn’t happened to me in the past. I’ll need to check my 1Password version when I get back home.

One thing I noticed is that I believe I have "precise location" set off somewhere, so the city shown on these emails keeps changing. Maybe that's why it thinks it is "new sign-in". I can't seem to find where to set that, else I would test it to see if it makes the emails stop.

I found the setting - it's "Maintain general location" or "Use country and time zone" under Settings-iCloud+-Private Relay-IP Address Location. However I still get the emails no matter which of these is set.

Adding to the list of people affected by this and definitely some sort of bug in the latest safari extension. Non-safari users in the workplace seem unaffected. I get emails with the same exact IP and location. Desktop safari also pops up on every launch with intro to add accounts since it couldn't sync and introducing the automatic login submission feature. But once clicking on the 1pass extension it syncs and unlocks fine.

I was worried it might be some compromise or malware, so glad to see others are having the same issue.

  • Hi everyone. My comment on another thread may well be of use in the cases described here.

This poses a security concern, and may cause people to ignore all such emails as false positives.

We should see who collects the most emails as a result of this aggravating bug.

My inbox has 59 of them currently.

I've been getting about 15 per day, but I've been deleting them. 😄 Merry Christmas / Happy Hannukah

I’ve been seeing the same behavior since updating to iOS 18.3 beta. As others pointed out, getting so many false positive emails will desensitize users to ignore similar (but actionable) emails in the future. This regression doesn’t pass the “mom test”: I wouldn’t be able to explain this to my parents vs when they REALLY need to past attention.
