Shared vault syncing through Dropbox

A while back I created a vault, setup syncing using Dropbox, and then I shared the Dropbox folder with two other team members in my office. When I first set this up, we were able to edit the vault and the syncing would work. Today, it became clear that at some point syncing must have stopped working. We all have different data in our version of the shared vault.

I don't think the problem is with Dropbox because I can see that the Dropbox folder is still shared, and 1password files inside it are getting updated. However, there are a bunch of files with hash keys in the default directory that look like A5AC81C7FF4A4248A6868E27E1BFEA6E.1password. Some of these appear to belong to my two other team members. It looks like at some point 1password started managing different versions of the shared vault for each of us.

How do I avoid this? I would like us all to be able to have access and make edits to the same vault that we can all see.

    Hi Elliot,

    I'm so sorry to hear that you've been having trouble staying synced up recently! There was a bug in a previous version of 1Password where 1Password could lose permission to sync after the system was re-started. This bug has been squashed in the current version, so you should see a much smoother syncing experience now. Please make sure that you are up to date with the latest and greatest version of 1Password (4.1.2 for Mac App Store purchasers and 4.1.3 for users who purchased from our website).

    To ensure that sync is working, please disable and reenable Dropbox sync on all affected computers. This should kickstart things and get you syncing again.

    If you are still seeing discrepancies between the vaults after resetting sync, please let me know and we'll of course investigate further!

    Hi Megan,

    Thanks for the response. We've all un-synced and re-synced, and now it appears to be working again. I'll let you know if we notice any more discrepancies in the syncing.
