Syncing with Dropbox - "enter master password for your existing data in Dropbox"

I am upgrading from 1password 2 to v4 and wanting to sync via Dropbox (since my other computer is only running osx snow leopard and has to use v3).

I am in the process of syncing using Dropbox, and in the 1P preferences for syncing, I have found my keychain within Dropbox and 1P is asking "enter master password for your existing data in Dropbox". I've entered in my 1P password, my dropbox password and my Mac password but none of them is working. What password is this asking for?

Hi, @fesh7iff9ik7bee4siv. Did you use 1Password's Password Generator to create that username? :)

I'm sorry 1Password is rejecting your Master Password to unlock your keychain in Dropbox. Could you please try 1PasswordAnywhere to see if that works? Here are basic steps:

    1. Open Dropbox.com in a web browser and log in there.
    2. Locate your 1Password keychain.
    3. Click inside it to find a 1Password.html file.

When you click the 1Password.html file it will open a webpage that looks like 1Password 3 for Mac. Type in your Master Password for the keychain and let us know if it unlocks. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the info. I did those steps but it worked. I first tried Chrome and it didn't work but noticed that the video said to use FF or Safari and Safari worked. I got it to work on my App...thanks!

Glad to hear you've now got access to your keychain in 1P4, @fesh7iff9ik7bee4siv.

If there's anything else we can help you with anything please let us know. :)
