I also agree on the need of such feature. I understand it is a challenge but it is really a "nice to have ". Thanks, Felice

+1 - same situation as many users before me, I mean in this thread are only the ones, who take the trouble of writing something, there's probably much more people who need this. So, imported hundreds of entries from KeePass... :-(
Strange this wasn't implemented yet, any idea how long it'll take until it's available?
Thx in advance for feedback :-)0 -
Thanks for the note, @cinegraphy. We don't announce timelines on possible features, or generally even publicly commit to them, until they are completed.
Thanks!

Hi Guys, add a another vote for this. Good news, you have a lot of people switching from old wallets, bad news, you have a lot of people switching from old wallets. :-) In the least case throwing the mis-matched fields and data into yet-to-be added would work, but its not that hard to add a mapping function for this either. Love this product. Keep up the good work.

Let me join the group: please allow us TO CHANGE CATEGORY EASILY and TO CHANGE CATEGORY NAME (and, if you are really good ..) to CREATE USER CATEGORIES.

Hi @Loris
Thank you for taking the time to contribute towards the direction of 1Password's development

please note my hand is raised as i too vote for this change
i had very happily been using infoXhead for years with my Mac
then the guys who owned the company disappeared and there were no more updates etc etc etcand i waited and waited to for 1password to add the ability to created fields
and now i wait for1 ) the opportunity to change which category you want a listing to be in
2 ) create your own categories
3 ) to do backups on various external HD's as well as on my computer
( as i understand it if your HD crashes you have lost all your 1password backups ....yes ? )
i could do these things easily on infoXhead

Just imported several 100 records from SplashID, however many have been categorised wrong. Not being able to edit the records category is really painful. So please add my vote too. Until then I will continue to use what I already have ...

Hi @imperator,
FYI: I have created a converter that may better categorize your SplashID records during conversion. You might find it useful. If there is a customization or two you need (e.g. you don't like how categories are mapped), some simple modifications can be made.
https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/30286/mrcs-convert-to-1password-utility/p1
Follow-up on that thread if you want to discuss the converter more.

Add one more voice to the Yes column. The ability to easily CRUD categories is way overdue. This is especially silly (and annoying) considering 1Password automatically adds a new account to the Login category (when using a browser extension) w/o giving you the choice to change it. At least please add a "Category" dropdown to that confirmation screen to allow the user to create the new account in the correct category.
That said, I've tried many if not most other password mgmt offerings and 1Password is head and shoulders above the others. Keep up the good work.

Hi @pseudopierre,
Thanks for the feedback!
Login and Password items are the only items that can be auto-filled into login forms by our extension. Other categories (such as Databases or Bank Accounts) cannot be filled, so when our browser extension auto-saves an item it makes sense to save it as a Login item.

I would also request this feature please, thanks

Thanks, added your vote to our list.

Create your own categories would be great. Thanks.

Add my vote for this feature too. In fact I'm very surprised that this feature did not exist in first place and has not been implemented yet. I have imported my data from mSecure into 1password but I'm not using 1password as most of my data are in a wrong category.

Hi, I have bought 1Password 5, imported my data from Pastor to 1Password 3 (using import options that do not seem to exist for tsv files in 1Password5 ?) then exported them to used them in 1Password 5.... but after succeeding the importation I'm not using 1password as my 800 entries or so are all in the "Identity" category. A simple -not to sophisticated- drag and drop to change category would be a must and would make me use 1Password that looks much better than Pastor... Thanks to add me to the list of request.... best

Your request has been added, @orsonwelles. Thanks for the feedback! :)
Here's a suggestion from the guide for importing data to help with converting TSV format data to CSV:
If your delimited-text file uses tabs or semicolons to separate fields, you can open it in a spreadsheet program, like Numbers, and save it in (or export it to) CSV format.

- my vote for this feature please. Next step (in my mind): create and edit own categories.
Thanks and a happy new year

I want a refund on this product. After two months of purchasing this product I'm not able to use "1password" and have to go to my old software 95% of times. I can not maintain two systems And it seems you don't have any plan to implement "change of categories" in your software anytime soon. I can't see a date for this feature and I see many people having this problem.
How do I get my money back? Please note I asked for this feature as soon as I realised your software does not have this feature. I asked in this forum and got the indication that my vote for this feature was added to whatever imaginary list. Now I see that many people had asked for this feature long time ago and this still has not been implemented. Therefore I think your software is not really fit for people who already are using another software with large number of entries and I would like to get my money back.0 -
Add a "me too" to your list. i 'm a longtime user of all 1password-versions (MacOS, iOS and even Win), so the problem don't caused by importing from other password-manager, but only in me and my laziness and/or lack of understanding in the advantage of properly used categories.

Please add me to the list. This feature is definitely something that is missing from an otherwise excellent product. As a programmer, and as others have mentioned, why not just map the fields that can be mapped (within the new category) and convert the remainder to 'Custom' fields???? What's so hard about that?

This needs to be done, count my vote please. I have used a pm for years and was recently forced to change so, after seeing all the good reviews I paid for 1p4 for android and desktop. The support for importing my 180+ records has been superb however, to my surprise I now realise my records are stuck in their categories and changing them manually isn't an option. I hope you can add this feature and change all the sad faces in this thread to happy faces. Cheers.
