I just installed 1Password 5, along with a recent update to OS 10.10/Yosemite. For whatever reason the 1Password "key" icon doesn't show up in the menu bar. So, I've been opening the app, copying passwords, etc. to get into sites. Am I missing something?

Mine is the same. Will use Chrome until I find out how to use Safari with this set up.

    Hi @seahawk505 and @deirdrekent,

Are you referring to the extension icon in the Safari toolbar?

If so, the first thing to check is that the 1Password extension is installed and enabled in Safari's preferences in the Extensions pane as shown below.

If the extension is disabled, please enable it then restart Safari.

And if it's not installed, please download it from here and install it.

Also, the icon is no longer a "key", we've changed it in 1Password 5:

Please let me know if that helps!

I had the same problem, but found an easy fix. I merely opened my applications folder, found 1Password 5 and dragged it to the dock. It worked perfectly.
