New version can't find vault?
I installed ver5 on my Mac and now have lost all my data. Can't find the vault file? Surely the app should know where it is located? I haven't deleted anything yet a hard drive search brings nothing (same for cloud). This is a big setback for me and will cause lots of problems.
I've asked for help on this twice and got nothing? What is going on?

Hi @johnagon,
That's no fun. I'm sorry to hear you're having this problem. Let's see if we can get you back up and running.
The first thing that we need to know is whether you were previously using 1Password 4 from the Mac App Store, or from our website. They store their data in different locations, so that'd help us narrow down the search. Searching for 1Password data via Spotlight will usually return no results, because 1Password stores its data inside of the ~/Library folder (as is recommended by Apple), which Spotlight does not search, as they want to discourage users from poking around too much in there. Luckily for us, it's still easy to get in there and take a look around. To do that, you'll need to open up a Finder window, and use the Go > Go to Folder... menu item. A sheet will appear, and in the text field I want you to copy/paste this exactly (including the ~) : ~/Library
Click Go, and it should bring us into the hidden directory.
Now here's where we need to know if you've got the Mac App Store version of the app, or the website version...
Mac App Store
If you had the Mac App Store version, there should be data in ~/Library/Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/. If you have that then we can provide instructions on how to get exact things back in place so that you're up and running.
Website
If you had 1Password from our website, then there should be data in ~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/.
Once we know what version you had, and what version you're currently running, we can provide more specific instructions on what would need to be done.
I just hope you didn't use any "App Cleaner" apps to remove version 4 before you downloaded 5. Those apps have a tendency to do more harm than good.

I'm still pissed at what is going on. I've given up finding the lost vault and starting over with lots of lost time and pain! Right now I'm trying the enable Safari and you have that nice big green buttton to install but I just get a black screen with this:

Nothing else happens? What are you guys doing...

Hi @johnagon,
To help us figure this out much quicker, can you please email us your diagnostic report to support+forum@agilebits.com with a link to this thread. Please also include your user name in the email as well.
If you get a response back from BitBot, it should include your support ID, let me know the support ID and I'll look into it as soon as I get that.
The diagnostic report will try to scan the known 1Password locations and report back any possible vault it can find.
Nothing else happens? What are you guys doing...
It is a direct path to our extension for Safari, Safari should be downloading it. I just clicked on that link and it works for me. If you have a different browser, please put that link in that browser and see if it'll download the extension for you. If it does, double-click on the file, and Safari will open up asking if you want to install the 1Password extension.
A few questions if you could answer for me:
- Do you have a security app on your Mac that could block downloads like that? Also, do you use a proxy or a VPN that could block certain links?
- Do you have an application on your Mac that can remove files without your intervention? Such an app would be used for optimizing your computer to speed up by removing unused files or something like that. We've seen some rare instances in the past where updating to a new version of 1Password could trigger such an app to do this, including removing 1Password vault files.
