Hello!

After updating the OS X 10.9.5 -> 10.10.1 1Password can not find the old base in iCloud Drive. I created a new database and now I have to iCloud Drive two directories for 1Password. How can I restore the old database? It is full of important data (

    Hi @mluboroscev‌

Can I confirm a couple of things please.

You performed an upgrade to Yosemite? so you upgraded over an existing copy of Mavericks. I ask this in contrast to wiping the drive and installing a clean copy of Yosemite.

After installing Yosemite, what did you do? 1Password 4 should have worked without incident and you should have been able to seamlessly update to 1Password 5 if you wanted to, again with no impact on your vault. So I just want to understand why you created a new database and what instructions you followed to do so.

1Password does create backups but they are kept in 1Password's support folder in ~/Library/ the exact location dependent on which version you use. I'm just wondering what you've done with those backups. For that matter do you backup to anything like Time Machine?

Post back here and we shall do our best to help you get through this.

    Hello!

    Thanks for the reply.

    I did the following:

    1. Reinstall the Mavericks
    2. Clean Mavericks updated to Yosemite
    3. Reinstall Yosemite
    4. Installed 1Passvord

After that, 1Password can not find the old base.

No backups. I do not use Time Machine.

How to get from iCloud old database?

    Hi @mluboroscev‌

I may need to bring others into this as the transition from the old iCloud to the new iCloud is something you can do once and once only. Normally if I come across a problem I haven't experienced myself I wander off and attempt to break it in the same way but that isn't very doable in this situation.

My first thought though is I do know any contents of your old iCloud should be in your new iCloud Drive. Is there a 1Password folder there and do you have an opvault package visible? If you do you can use that and I'd suggest our guide for Getting started again on a new computer.

As soon as I cross paths with our devs though I will ask for confirmation on this.

Is there any news on this issue? I can still see two folders in iCloud, but the program only works with one. I have several times to reinstall the system and the program starts using the new database. How to get old?

    Hi @mluboroscev ,

Please see our troubleshooting article here: Multiple 1Password entries in iCloud - does this help?

Thanks for the reply. This article does not help me. I need to keep the old data. In the old data, all my passwords.

    How to recover them?

  • Hi @mluboroscev,

Looks like that's a Mac screenshot there. We'd have better luck at possibly getting to this data on the Mac. Open a new Finder window, and use the Go > Go to Folder menu item. Copy/paste this into the text field it brings up: ~/Library/Mobile Documents/2BUA8C4S2C~com~agilebits~onepassword/.

This should bring you to a directory that has a directory named onepassword_data. Make a copy of this directory to your desktop or somewhere else. Rename it to onepassword_old_icloud.opvault. The .opvault extension is critical here. While 1Password is running and unlocked, double click this opvault file, when you renamed it, it should have changed itself from a directory to a file.

Double clicking this opvault file should have brought up 1Password's window to create a new vault. Give it a name like "Old iCloud Data", and you'll need to provide the password for your old iCloud vault to get access to the data. Once you've done this, the iCloud data will get imported into the newly created vault. The data will not automatically get merged into your new iCloud data. It'll be up to you to move or copy the items to your Primary vault so that they can be synced via the new iCloud system.

Once you've copied or moved all of the items, you can use the 1Password > Delete Vault... menu item to remove the new vault we created to import the old data.

    I hope this helps.
