1Password5 not working accurately
I used 1password3 for a number of years with Lion on the Mac - it worked beautifully. Recently I updated the Mac to Yosemite and my iPad and iPhone to IOS8 and have since installed the latest update. I installed 1Password5 and am now experiencing problems. If I change my password to a generated one, sometimes it works and other times is does not work. I can log into a few sites by going to 1Password mini and clicking the item but most will not log in. I have to enter the user name manually and then copy the password. This is happening to sites that worked previously. In some instances the user name has changed to something else such as part of the address. I have tried to uninstall the program and delete all the data but when I do a fresh install, I seem to get the old database back. I was hoping I could start from scratch and create a new database that is accurate. Trying to generate new passwords and save them to the database has resulted in me locking myself out of some accounts after numerous unsuccessful attempts at changing the password. Please Help. I am really frustrated as now I don't have a program that works.

Hi @Dzintra Briedis
I'm sorry to hear you've been having so much hassle with 1Password 5. A lot changed between 1Password 3 and 1Password 4. It was totally rewritten and we've tried to adhere to standards even more than before. Unfortunately it meant some visible differences in the extension's behaviour. That isn't to say it's broken - far from it but it was different from the 1Password 3 extension.
We can certainly help you if you want to wipe your vault completely but there may be an alternative.
In 1Password 4/5 you can create multiple vaults. You could create a secondary vault and move the entire contents of your primary vault over. This would give you an empty primary vault but you would still have access to all the old entries. I'm sure some are still correct and so useful. That way you can slowly populate the now empty primary vault and still reference the old data.
Having used 1Password for a while one of the things that is painfully clear to me now is the variations possible in creating a login page. So we have a couple of guides to assist.
This first one is based on the default setting of 1Password asking if you want to save a Login when it detects it.
Sometimes that doesn't work though and we have to do what we call Saving a Login Manually
Normally I create my Login items directly in 1Password and then add the appropriate URL to the website field. Now this is the most simple route so it may not capture everything. Again, that's when the Saving a Login Manually solution can often work.
If you still want to wipe 1Password and start with a brand new vault then we do have a guide for Starting Over.
If you have any questions please do post and we'll respond here. Hopefully 1Password will become more intuitive with a little time.
