'Could not find 1Password information on iCloud' when installing

I bought 1Password when I was running Yosemite, unfortunately I was forced to downgrade to Mavericks. My data is stored in iCloud but 1Password doesn't seem to recognise the data in iCloud under Mavericks.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I'm using the wifi sync now as a workaround, this works. Still I'm interested in a solution using iCloud.

    Hi @yourit‌

When you were running Yosemite did you upgrade to iCloud Drive? If you did I'm afraid this upgrade is irreversible and your iCloud data will only be accessible by Yosemite or iOS 8.

I have synced using the Wifi method between my Mac and iPhone (version 5.1.2) and then enabled iCould on both devices again.

I'm suspecting my iPhone (iOS 8.1.1) is using the iCloud Drive method and my Mac is using the old iCould method since my vault is not synchronised anymore.

I think I already have figured it out: 1Password 5.1.2 is not able to sync with < OS X 10.10. Will resort to the WiFi sync then, which is unfortunately a manual operation.

    Pretty confusing stuff..

    Hi @yourit‌

iCloud sync changed dramatically between 1Password 4 and 1Password 5. 1Password 5 was designed to take advantage of the CloudKit framework which was first available in iOS 8 and Yosemite. The trouble is it's only available in iOS 8 and Yosemite making it impossible to sync between 1Password 4 and 1Password 5 if you wish to use iCloud. For it to work properly you also need to upgrade to iCloud Drive and that means Mavericks and lower and iOS 7 and lower are cut off.

It isn't ideal but Apple isn't scared to rough it through a tough transition if they believe the outcome is worth it. Until you're fully on a CloudKit capable setup you do still have both Dropbox and Wi-Fi sync available. Hopefully those are acceptable alternatives.

You will find that once set up and working wifi sync will happen automatically if both Mac and iDevice are on the same network and unlocked.
