Safari can’t open the file “1Password 5-2” because no available application can open it.
Hi There,
I'm running OS X 10.8.5. I downloaded one password for mac, it automatically downloaded version 5. When I try to open the download, I get the message, Safari can’t open the file “1Password 5-2” because no available application can open it. Do I need to download one password 4 instead?
Thx

Hi @Nicole Irene Kalbermatten
As you're running Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8) you won't be able to run 1Password 5. However we do have 1Password 4 available via our download page, you want to scroll down to the bottom of the page to find 1Password 4 under our Legacy section.
I am a little confused that you're reporting Safari is trying to open the file you downloaded. What should have downloaded was a zip file which Finder should be able to expand - Safari's role should just be to download. Let us know how you get along.

I upgraded to Yosemite and I am trying now to start working with 1password. When I was asked to set the master password for the first time, I decided to think about it, so I didn't finish at that time. Now I'm ready to set it, but when I open the program, it asks me to enter my master password, which I have never set. Not sure how to proceed.

I think the best thing to do is to start over, following very carefully the instructions in the knowledge base article to which I've linked. I'm assuming there's no 1P data on your Mac you need to save.

Hi @Nicole Irene Kalbermatten,
As @Stephen_C recommended, you should probably do the Starting Over instructions as that will get you back into an initial state and the app should treat you like a new user again.
I hope this helps.
