Master Password problems
I have 1Password v. 5.0.2 (purchased October 2014).
My operating system is OS X Yosemite v. 10.10.1.
The problem is that when trying to login, using either the desktop application or the browser plugin, the master password is often 'rejected'. The only solution I have found so far is to restart my iMac and then re-enter the master password. This always works.
My master password has never been changed, so I am at a loss to explain why it intermittently fails to work.
An explanation/solution would be most welcome.

Not an answer:
Mine goes rejected a lot too. I’m usually convinced that I have entered it properly: Sometimes that’s true, other times its not.
I’ve never had to restart the computer to make it work though, for whatever that’s worth. When does this occur? Is it on a desktop, or iOS?
(I assume desktop because of the forum choice). I see it on both, in my case.Anything unique about the conditions surrounding the phenomenon?
I’ve not identified anything in my case, but you REQUIRING a restart is an added complication, if it is the only fix.0 -
Hi @agc353 & @RunInCircles
That's a puzzling one. I haven't experienced it myself and I think this is the first report I've heard.
Here's in excerpt from out Master Password not accepted guide
Switch keyboard layouts
If you use multiple languages or keyboard layouts on your Mac, your keyboard might be set up differently from how it was when you first created your Master Password. This could cause you to type in your password incorrectly, especially if it contains accented or non-standard characters.
To verify your input source, go to System Preferences, click on Keyboard and select the Input Sources tab. If you aren’t sure which input source you used when creating your Master Password, try switching between all the ones that seem likely and then attempt to access your vault.
Restart your computer
In some instances, certain installed software influences how keystrokes are processed and can interfere with your ability to type in your password. By restarting your Mac, you will stop these applications and also restart any other “misbehaving” applications.
Could either these be plausible causes of what you're experiencing?

Thanks for the replies; sorry for the delay in acknowledging.
In answer to the questions posed:
It occurs on my desktop (iMac).
Can't think of any unique circumstances where this failure occurs.
I don't use multiple languages or keyboard layouts - just UK, for both.
Think I'll try changing the master password and see if that works...

@agc353 Let us know your findings. Certainly if need be we can continue troubleshooting.

Yesterday the same error started on both my iMac and Macbook pro; my master password was rejected on both devices. It happens on the desktop application and on the browser plugin.
I have not changed the master password for some weeks and until yesterday it worked perfectly. The error is spasmodic on both devices but happens very frequently. I have temporarily overcome the issue by closing 1P down completely and restarting each device as necessary. Sometimes that does not work though.
To confirm I am using the correct master PWord, I have typed it into Notes and copy it into 1P.
My master PW is a combination of lower case alpha's and numbers so nothing complicated.
On both devices I am using version 5.0.2 downloaded from the App store.
My and iMac and Mac Book Proare both running OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1
I also use 1P on my iPhone but use 'touch' to open 1P - so far no issues.0 -
Hi @agc353, @chilliaddict ,
That's really strange. Does it show you your password hint? That may seem like a strange question, but I'm wondering if maybe it's hitting an error before we get to the point of actually validating the password. If it shows you the hint, then odds are that we are in fact trying to validate the password and failing. I'd be curious to see a Diagnostics Report after this has happened. It may shine a bit of light on what's going on here. To get us a diagnostics report, simply follow the instructions on this page. Do this the next time that it's giving you trouble (so that the last things in the logs are the trouble you're having, otherwise it's a needle in a hay stack for me). Email the Diagnostics Report to support+forum@agilebits.com. Include a link to this forum thread in the email so that we can connect the dots. You should get back an email with a ticket id. Feel free to post this ticket id in this forum thread so that we can easily jump between the two.
Looking forward to seeing what the reports say.
Rick
