Uninstall 1Password 4 without hurting 1Password 5
I have installed 1Password 5. How do I uninstall 1 Password 4, which seems to create problems when I shut my MAC down and restart? With 1 Password 4, I always got the message that 1 Password mini could not find the 1 Password app. This does not appear to be happening with 1 Password 5.

Simply drag the 1P4 app to the trash. Don't use any app cleaner tool because it may well throw out some of the files 1P5 needs.

Hi @CaroleB
Stephen_C's advice should have sorted you out, did it go successfully?

Stephen: unfortunately a read your Post Reply AFTER using an app cleaner to uninstall 1P4. The good news is that the relevant 1P files are still in my Trash bin. How can I restore them to the proper place?
Thank you.0 -
Right click on the relevant file(s) in trash and choose Put back.

Unfortunately, it did not work. Do I need to reinstall anything? How do I do it?

What doesn't work, please? Are you getting an error message: if so, what? Can you open 1P? Does it contain any of your data? Have you sync'd any of the data previously to another device (like a phone or tablet)?
You'll need to give us rather more information to help us to help you.

The leftover files in the trash are all gone. Gone! I cannot put them back.
I use 1Password on two Macs (MacBook Pro and iMac), plus 2 IOS8 devices (iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2).
I have uninstalled 1P4 only on MacBookPro. Conceivably, 1P4 is still on my iMac?
Does this give you an idea on what to do next to restore full capability?
I won't do anything on my iMac until I hear from you.
Thank you so much for your help, Stephen.0 -
OK, let's take this slowly. Don't panic: I'm sure someone here will get you right back on track, even if it's not me!
It sounds to me like this:
- you uninstalled 1P4 from your MB Pro, used an uninstall app and have lost all of your 1P data on that machine;
- however, you have two iOS devices and an iMac, which also run 1Password (and presumably which all still have all of your 1P data: is that correct?).
I suggest you don't let the MacBook sync with any iOS device until we've sorted exactly how to resolve your problem. Please tell us what you use to sync your iOS devices with your Macs (wifi, Dropbox or iCloud). Someone will then be able to work out how safely to recover your 1P data and get it back on to your MacBook Pro.
As a final thought, for the moment, have you tried re-installing 1P4 on the MacBook Pro: it's possible it might find some undeleted 1P data for you.

For some reason unknown to me, 1P5 is now working perfectly well on my MBP. No further action needed. When I delete 1P4 from my iMac I will remember not to use an app cleaner.
Thank you for your help.0
