need to be clearer in manual about syncing

Can you describe in detail how syncing works:
-is it automatic, when does it happen, at what frequency?
-can the syncing be done bidirectionally?
-does syncing work the same across all platforms?
-where does the vault actually reside in the iCloud?

The manual should be much more rigorous

Syncing occurs whenever you make a change to your data. With Dropbox, that happens as soon as you save the change. I don't use iCloud, but I believe that there can be a bit of a delay with that; Apple determines when the sync occurs, but in any case, it's very soon after you make a change. Syncing is initiated where the change is made. If you change something on an iOS device, it will initiate it. The same is true if you make the change on your desktop. In that sense it is bidirectional. I'm not sure what you mean by acting the same across all platforms, but I think my other answers mean that it does behave the same across all platforms.

I am not sure where your data are on iCloud. I've been using Dropbox since before the release of version 5, and I cannot use iCloud any longer because my license came directly from AgileBits, not the Mac App Store.

I hope those answer are useful, but don't hesitate to ask if you need clarification or have other questions.

    Hi @woelt‌ & @Alain_55‌

Just to expand a little on what hawkmoth has already said.

    • Syncing is always automatic (Wi-Fi Sync used to be manually activated but we've since 'corrected' that). There are certain triggers such as unlocking a vault (to ensure the local vault is up to date) and adding/editing an item.
    • Synching is always bi-directional.
    • in iCloud the sync data is in a database that we interact with via Apple's framework, in Dropbox it's the agilekeychain.
    • iCloud Sync should be happening as frequently as Dropbox now, it's why we moved to CloudKit as the original iCloud Sync meant we had no control over when the local sync data was synchronised with the server copy.

Let us know if you have any more questions.
